For all the reasons that I have harped on about for ages, Vunda! Too thick and too spongey! Carpet will be like a trampoline, placing all sorts of stresses on edges and seams. Double the underlay is a DISASTER waiting to happen. Backing will go fast (it stretches down as you SINK into it, but doesn't stretch back - it's not a trampoline) and you will be buying new carpet sooner rather than later. A good thing for the industry though, if you are feeling generous Should just be a couple of doorway joins. I would suggest with a good layer, it wouldn't be a drama. Go DENSE with your underlay - thicker is not better - denser is better.
