Hardly a fair comment, I’m sure if Matt checked his plans that he signed off the downpipe is marked in that spot. I guess this is another lesson learned and anyone not sure how to go through your plans thoroughly before signing off might pay to have some third party go over them to check for small anomalies like this. I thought knowing how to build a house WAS the builders job... If he knew to look out for all of these tiny little things don't you think he would build the house himself. I would hardly expect him to take his plans to someone else to check their builder knows what they are doing. If that’s the case I’m certain those that have employed an independent building inspector have wasted their money! Unfortunately not in this instance, Kiwi. Matt has had many an 'issue' with his builder, this being one of them. I think there are many many people on this forum that have hired an independent building inspector, and have been very very glad they did. Its an unfortunate indictment on the quality of some builders. I couldn’t agree more, building a house is a huge commitment for anyone, and is more often then not very one sided when it comes to getting what you paid for. I have to say that i think we have all learned a lesson through Matt's experience (unfortunately) I will say with no reservation that Matt's investment in Kevin from New Home Inspections was the best money he's spent (during the building process).... i shudder to think of what else would have happened if Kevin wasn't there to help..... I for one will be investing in Kevin to assist us with our inspections - with no hesitation at all. Re: The downpipe and the outside light ... problem fixed! 19Feb 02, 2008 8:53 pm Me too.....
