I am happy to pay the $500 but we have to wait for their colour consultant to be available for us and we can't use no other one except the one we used initially. The next appointment is not until the 24th and they are gonig to make us sign a disclaimer saying that if we miss out on FHOG then its our fault. We had to keep asking them about when our appointment was going to be for electrical. That won't be until the 15th. I do understand that if they didn't have the fee to change things then people would always change their minds and it would be hard for them as they do have many clients. But I didn't think it would be this hard even though I am willing to pay the fee. But we do have our site scrape. Does anyone know how much longer until I get a slab and what needs to be done to qualify for the FHOG? anymore paperwork/inspection kinda thing? Villina with Trend facade Sydney Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 823Feb 02, 2010 3:06 pm jodge . . . we've changed our minds a million times! jodge, so have we! Sadly once our colours were locked in, that was it unless we wanted to pay the variation fee. We're on Masterton's old contract system so now that we've signed the contract, any colour variation for us is an extra $1000. We've second guessed our colours every day since our selection! I'd be destitute!!!! I understand why they have a charge, as a deterrant to people who may be indecisive otherwise. . . I suppose they have to keep their costs low in order to keep there prices competitive. I suppose it's a lot less paperwork for us if we want to change anything, as we can go directly to the source. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 825Feb 03, 2010 4:11 pm Hey guys, Walked through house today and was pleased to see that some plumbing work has been done and gutters and facia's started. There was heaps of mud and muddy water pooled up on the slab throughout the house and i was worried about this not getting cleaned up properly and also worried about the water rotting the wood/frame on the ground. Does anyone have any experience as to how well the "site cleanup" is or more importantly, do the house everything out before they start gyprock? The peg out is to determine the actual placement of the house and determine if the contours are correct from the initial survey, so it can happen any time and the early the do it the better for you. Most of my neighbours apparently got complying development without building one (they have the same condition on their title as well) but apparently we can't! The final design from stormwater dude is a sunken bit of yard with retaining walls, a bloody great grate and some mysterious secret detention thing and pump under that. Absolutely no clue what this is going to cost. Still have not managed to get an up to date tender from Masterton, the last one I saw was back in September when I signed. Asked yet again today - I think I'm on to my fourth contact at Masterton because people keep leaving. Apparently everything has gone back to the certifier this week so we might actually start building sometime this year Desperately need the bank pack still as I had to pay the Masterton deposit without it (and the bank had me put all my deposit in for the land so the house is 100% bank funds). Haven't done electricals yet - probably need to ring Masterton again to follow up on that one! I should have budgeted for a really high phone bill as part of the cost of building! Turns out the laminex wood grain ebony macassar for the bathrooms and kitchen were no extra cost that was a surprise... Then comes the disapointments... First off... we are getting the 1200mm wide front door & high ceilings so that increases the front doors height to 2340mm.. we were told we could choose from the savoy & illusion range... so we chose one from the illusion range turns out that particular door only comes in a standard height... so we had to pick a different one Then we were under the impression that the stacked stone piers were included with our facade.... nope $3000 extra Then... turns out we didnt get the paint colour chart... so i wasnt aware that you have to choose from "trade" colours.... i didnt see anything that matched the colours i had already chosen... plus none of the standard colours were white... apprarently to get a real white its $2000 on top of the extra we would be paying for 3 different colours and different coloured woodwork so..... we told them not to paint our house... we will pay a tradesman to come paint after handover... will probably work out around the same price plus we can pick whatever colours we like... So here are the things we upgraded... Aluminium kickboards $275 Water point to fridge space (for ice maker in fridge) $250 Bevelled edge mirrors in both bathrooms $65 each Upgraded alarm control pad $55 Wiring in the living room for surround sound speakers $165 A fancy long door handle for the front door $272 Provide phone connection $443 I will post our colour selections on our thread Oh and by the way after whipper snipping our entire block in the rain last night(cause the lawn mower wouldnt start)... surprise surprise they didnt do our pegout today Building the Crystal in Wollongong NSW 26th Sept 09 - Paid $2500 1st May 10 - Slab poured 14th May 10 - Frame complete 8th June 10 - Roof complete 21st June 10 - Bricks complete 30th June 10 - Lock Up 6th August - PCI 18th August - Handover Our building thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=27639 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 833Feb 05, 2010 8:43 pm We also did our colour today....everything went well. Absolutely no clue what this is going to cost. Tell me about it, we only just found out that we had to submit the stormwater management designs though DA and our house would have been a complying development. our neighbour almost agreed to creating an easement on his property but then we realised that our backyards both slope towards each other. you might want to have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24939, it's more specific to the Sutherland Shire but it's given me a cost of about 18K, more money that could have been spent elsewhere Hope you don't have to join the 18k hole in the ground club Building: Masterton Villina Savoy in the Sutherland Shire http://nathanandvivienbuildahome.blogspot.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 836Feb 07, 2010 5:01 pm demolition question - would i need to take out the old sewer line and water line from the property upto the mains Masterton Crystal MK1 Split Level Blacktown CC Paid $2.5k end Sept; Frame 14 Apr; viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32025&hilit=ekman Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 837Feb 07, 2010 8:57 pm Hi ekman, I'm pretty sure we didn't.
