If is always advisable to install an impregnator at the end of a polished concrete project. Whist polished concrete done in a method as such as Hiperfloor will provide extremely stain resistant floors, an impregnator will guarantee it. An impregnator only needs to be applied once, and is not a topical product. If applied correctly it should last around 20 years in a domestic situation. We have done accelerated wear testing on our floors through the CSIRO, and they were amazed at the results. The process we provide turns concrete into a highly abrasive resistant floor, it is very very very difficult to scratch (dragging a chair will not damage the floor), it is highly resistant to staining from fats and oils, but like all things, it can still be effected by acids.
