We are looking for recommendations on mass planting a row of small trees or large shrubs (3-4 metres tall) for the front yard boundary between our property and the neighbours driveway. The main function is to offer shade from the afternoon sun to our sw facing bedroom window and eventually upstairs family room. From about 4 pm the rooms really heat up (despite window coverings).
The other plants are predominantly natives such as:
grass tree
grevillea
native ground covers such as pigface
hakeas
dwarf lily pilly's
We are hoping to find something with an upright habitat, tall (so it doesn't grow over the neighbour's driveway) and non invasive as they will be very close to the stormwater pipe.
Two options are the PencilPine or Manchurian Pear. Suggestions welcome.
