We went to Beaumont last weekend and are a little confused (we went to the one at Sumner Park - do you know if the Loganholme store is better??) And did you have to go Beaumonts?? mel Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 7Jan 15, 2010 4:57 pm melgow27 Hi Renee, I have not really figured out how to do this picture thing, so hopefully the pictures will get better!! lol Have been watching your forum - how did you go with tiles? We went to Beaumont last weekend and are a little confused (we went to the one at Sumner Park - do you know if the Loganholme store is better??) And did you have to go Beaumonts?? mel We went alright in the end with the tile selection. We were told by our SC that Loganholme was a bigger store but we didn't actually end up going there so I don't know what it's like for sure. You do have to select your tiles from Beaumonts as part of Coral's inclusions for wet tiled areas and if you are getting all your tiling done through Coral, then all tiles must be selected from there. Did you tell them at Beaumonts that you were building with Coral? Because then they'll give you some info and explain which tiles you can select from as part of the standard Coral range. Good Luck because it can be very confusing and stressful. But try to have an idea about what type, style, colour and size you're interested in before you go. And go in a couple of time before you make your final selections to make sure you are definite on your choices. HTH P.S. With the photo thing, you did really well being able to post a photo on your first post so for you! I'm not sure about Photobucket because I use Webshots but you can usually select a larger sized version of your photo to post if you like Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 8Jan 16, 2010 9:44 pm Went to PGH at Oxley today to look at bricks and roof tiles - I swear it was about 40 degrees there... not so good with 2 littles ones in tow!! The sales lady there was FANTASTIC though, she had a chat with us, showed us what our 'choices' would look like together and then sent us off with samples... now the hard part of actually choosing! At this stage the bricks are between Allora (1 1/2 brick) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and Perisher Rice (double brick) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Apparently these are the same colour only the different sizes.... although they did look a little different at the display centre... roof tiles is between Sambucca Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ or Barramundi Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Off to look at tiles tomorrow - Beaumonts at Loganholme.... should be fun (at least it is air conditioned!! ) cheers, mel Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 9Jan 16, 2010 10:54 pm Nice bricks We chose the Presto Thredbo. I love the double bricks, although I almost changed my mind to the 1 1/2 size but didn't. (Is your second brick meant to be Presto Rice or Presto Perisher?) We also went to Oxley PGH but in a different extreme to you, it was raining And I too had two kids in tow Enjoy your tile browsing tomorrow Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 10Jan 18, 2010 11:39 am walker79 Nice bricks We chose the Presto Thredbo. I love the double bricks, although I almost changed my mind to the 1 1/2 size but didn't. (Is your second brick meant to be Presto Rice or Presto Perisher?) he he, meant to say Presto Rice (seriously, they all start sounding and looking the same after a while!) My husband loves the double bricks, where as I like the 1 1/2... I might give him the double if it means I get to pick something else! So went to Beaumont Tiles at Loganholme yesterday and I was like a kid in a lolly shop! The fact that they let me walk out with samples of ALL my favourites was FANTASTIC!! (we ended up with 3 floor tiles, 2 wall tiles for the bathroom/laundry and 3 feature tiles for the main bath and ensuite) Now we have them all laid out and will see what we think over the next week or so (it is amazing how different they look in 'natural' light!) Will post pics once we narrow it down a bit. Not sure what to do in the Kitchen (splashback) love the metallic tile look (in the small rectangle size in a neutral shade) but not sure if it will be too much... will have to keep looking. cheers xo Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 11Jan 19, 2010 8:03 pm hey melgow27! welcome! thats so funny, my parents live at pine mountain (love pine mountain, you will love living there ) and i built with coral at honeywood in fernvale! you've made some awesome changes to the hamilton, what extras are you looking at adding? stone benchtops etc etc 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 12Jan 19, 2010 10:12 pm Hi Jess!!! I have read all about your lovely home at Honeywood - congrats!! How is everything going?? As for extras/changes... the list is endless! Here goes: - in main bedroom made the ensuite smaller by taking out the spa bath, but put in double shower, extended the walk in to make it bigger, added double vanity - made laundry 600mm bigger (main bedroom smaller) to add in linen cupboard and bench - made bath in main bathroom a spa bath - added built in to bedroom 4 - moved garage from LHS to RHS (moved bedroom 3 out to make walkway from garage into the house) to make way for granny flat (this sits better on the block) - added built in to garage - squared off family room and added double slider doors - added sliding door to games room - upgraded kitchen to galley style and switched the way it sits (usually runs vertically), added draws to either side of stove, will be caesarstone benchtops, 900mm stove, cooktop - changed dwarf wall between family room and lounge to full wall - removed dwarf wall from entry - added 4.88 x 4.88m under roof patio with upgraded roof and concrete (will tile ourselves) - added a 'granny' flat for my mum (which we have christened Mum's Mansion! (this has bedroom, 2 way bathroom, study/guest room, lounge, dining and 'wet bar' - we will add in full kitchen afterwards. Mum also has a under roof patio. - to keep with covenant we had to change roof pitch to 25 degrees - added high ceilings - ducted air conditioning - carpet in bedrooms and study, tiles everywhere else - security screens - we also have no sewerage out there, so we have to have a HSTP as well... I think that is it... although hubby wants a shed and pool too.... maybe in 10 years!!! Had the surveyours out there yesterday doing the soil test etc... we had soil testing done when we brought the land 6 months away and it was 'p' class, so a little scared at how much this is going to cost!! cheers for now, mel Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 13Jan 21, 2010 5:14 pm Hi Mel, Welcome to the forum and congrats on choosing Coral. We've been in ours for about 7 months now and still very happy (1 or 2 little things, but honestly, I'd be really nit-picking to whinge). Your first brick selection looks a lot like the rattan that we used, just a different height maybe. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr64/JellyLegs01/100_0260.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr64/JellyLegs01/100_0275.jpg We have put it with the Barramundi roof tile, along with Dune fascia and Ironstone gutter. Don't forget to add roof Sarking which is not standard with Coral. Good luck with it. Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 14Feb 16, 2010 5:24 pm back again, so finally our land is supposed to settle tomorrow... should have been in October last year, but thanks to council etc. it was WAY delayed with registration.... I am so over it. Question - got our tender letter back from Coral Homes and it is like $15,000 more than the original priliminary quote... is this normal?? (our SC told us she had over estimated our building costs but it as still blown out by $4,500 and the soil test came back better than we thought!) Other costs that weren't in the original quote are: Stormwater $1795 Water service $950 Extra Council fees $1,299 High ceilings $1252 (extra over $4,165 quoted) Reconfigure garage $1052 (extra over $3,645 quoted) Granny Flat $3081 (extra over $65,128 quoted) site cost $4650 (extra over $18,000 quoted) again, is this normal?? mel Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 15Mar 21, 2010 4:09 pm Hey Mel, How are things coming along for you? Haven't heard from you in a while? Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 16Apr 07, 2010 4:35 pm Hi Walker79! After a few set backs with the tender letter we have now signed the contract! yeah! We now have to wait and see if Coral end up signing the contract too as we changed it to include a finance clause, even though our SC told us that under no circumstances will Coral allow a finance clause to be added.... (not that it is a real issue with us but we were only acting on advise from our Solicitor and broker and i have heard alot of stories of late where people have been sued if there is problems with the finance, and the way banks are at the moment after the 'financial crisis' I don't think we can be too careful!) will let you know how we go. cheers, Mel Re: Building Coral Home - Daydream 279 17Apr 26, 2010 3:26 pm Hey Mel, Haven't heard from you in a while. What's happening with your contract? In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 1660 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13718 We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
