I was also looking at building a double storey to have a larger backyard, but decided against it as I could not get this house that I built out of my mind and compared it to everything My backyard is 12 X 19mtrs and is more than enough as there is a pergola to go up to the side of the house for entertaining. I too am in Point Cook, Lincoln Heath Estate which is about 7 years old now, where is Carinya Estate? Hope you have a great build Hey Tillie, Thanks for the comments. I haven't even added out bench top and cupboards colour yet only the externals so you have reminded me I have more to do! Karinya is on the corner os Dunnings and Hacketts very close to the town centre which is great. My friend just built in Lincoln Heath. Their house finished about 3 months ago now. We selected tiles to 2000mm high in the bathroom and ensuite and the tiles are 200m x 200mm gloss white! I love white. However the floor is the black colour tile (pictured above with the carpet selection) selected by my other half that had to be! Big contrast but hopefully one that will be good. Good idea going for the 2-story option. I'm afraid that as I'm on the other side of the country we don't have that brick option handy (it's cream cream and more cream over here - none of the brown / tan colours that seem to be popular east side), so I can't help you with finding a house built with it. BUT! I would suggest that you use Google Street View to take a virtual tour around any new estates in your area - chances are you'll find a place with bricks of that colour Dark carpet is a good idea to cover stains, but I would imagine that continuing the dark theme with the tiles might make some of your tiled areas look smaller than they actually are. Light tiles will help to make the area look bigger, and I can imagine that this would be especially useful for a house where space is at a premium Re: Our Villa 24 by Formula Homes, Karinya - Point Cook 20Jan 09, 2010 1:23 pm Hey Rowena, Thanks for the comments. We have checked out your thread before also and are eager to watch/hear of your build with NBG. Your design is going to be great on your corner block! Hey Vundaful! Thanks for the feedback! Re the bricks it sees no one has used them in any new areas of melbourne at all! Boral (the brick company) has advised me of a few addresses to check out and they are all inner suburban areas where its been a knock down re build. So its only a handful to look at if that. I do agree with the darker tiles however I've had lighter before and find them so hard to keep clean with light grout also I thought just go for dar so it looks clean.
