Hope you don't mind me copying the picture so I can use this design for my house. Cheers, Carolyn Tassie Carolyn Re: A*J C@ventry 33 - Deck nearly finished 06/01 pics 691Jan 07, 2010 10:16 am Wow!! I don't even have a deck yet and I have been in for over 6 months!! Well done to DBF Progress is great! Loving the pic of Tillie - she is so cute!! Does she like her new home? Oh and god love Mama M, she cracks me up!! Tell her to do one for me too My karma ran over your dogma Re: A*J C@ventry 33 - Deck nearly finished 06/01 pics 692Jan 07, 2010 1:43 pm That deck is looking great! Have you used nails or screws? The deck is nearly finished, but I have lost him again to cricket today, as he has training to go to I helped him a little as I can be such a hinderance at times also to try and get it done, but it shall just have to wait for another day. That is one awesome deck and an obviously very talented BF! Did he also build the merbau screen? Will you put up shade sail or something over the deck or will it not need it? Your Mum's artwork reminds me of DH response when I admired some [albeit expensive] Aboriginal artwork - he reckons he can do something just as good for no cost at all... so it just depends on whether her artwork looks like something that you want The pic of Matilda is fabulous! I'd suggest a modelling or TV career Keep the pictures coming! Sunday is looking good We have had our eye on a bbq for some time and when we went out shopping today, there was one there, with some minor damage, can't actually see it unless you look under the wok burner, with a nice discount of $149 taken from the price, here it is: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: A*J C@ventry 33 - Deck nearly finished 06/01 pics 696Jan 08, 2010 3:26 pm Very very nice! That is a great sized BBQ perfect for entertaining! And a bargain too! Re: A*J C@ventry 33 - Started on outside of house pics 03/01 698Jan 08, 2010 9:31 pm Tillie Here are some more pics of the decking to the back of the house, this was yesterdays effort, as BF was not all that impressed with the cricket and hoping that today some boards shall go on Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Concrete due for next Monday fingers crossed that the weather shall be fine I feel horrible for saying this, but i have seen what termites can do. Your deck is covering up the weep holes in your brick work. This could possibly provide an entry point for termites into your home What i would consider is that the board closest to the house be screwed down so you can open it up once per month and inspect for any mud runs or the like and hope that your termite protection system is up to scratch. But still, even leaving that is a risk. As i said, i feel awful for telling you this as that deck does look great. Might want to put some thought into how this could be corrected. Maybe seek some professional advise - to be honest, i dont know much about the little buggers - but I have seen walls being held together by the thickness of the paint so it does ring alarm bells for me. Best Wishes Re: A*J C@ventry 33 - Deck nearly finished 06/01 pics 699Jan 09, 2010 10:41 am Will be sure to let BF about the points you raised Lunchtime, thanks. The termite protection is placed just below the weep holes, it is a mesh type application. Re: A*J C@ventry 33 - Deck nearly finished 06/01 pics 700Jan 13, 2010 7:26 am Well the first part of the concrete was laid yesterday and the rest is being done today They have washed off a section of it and it looks great just the colour I was after, here are some pics This is through one of the windows this morning Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is from the front, there is a car space to the left of the garage, path to front door, then a driveway like area to the double gates, more concreting to the pergola area and then leading down the side of the house to the backyard to where the deck starts. Lots and lots of concrete Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Will post more pics this arvo once all the concreting has been done I had new concrete laid, extended the alfresco and had the sidewalks concreted too.
