Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 2Jan 04, 2010 3:56 pm Hi There, That sounds like a good deal, if they supply timber and install it for $69.95. If it is only installation then there are other places in Perth offering around $25 - $35 per Sqm. Went to several places in Osborne Park last weekend that's what they were offering. We are also shopping for Timber Floors, just can't make up my mind whether to use Solid Timber or Engineered Timber ( I am not talking abt Vinyl ). Cheers Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 3Jan 04, 2010 4:12 pm It sounds like we are at the same stage of the process. We have decided to go with engineered timber due to: (1) it being cheaper than solid wood. (2) comes with a warranty while solid wood doesn't. (3) from my research seems to be more durable than solid wood. I stand corrected if any of the above is not correct, but it seems like there is conflicting information compared to who you talk to. The $69.95 was for supply & installation. Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 4Jan 04, 2010 4:20 pm Hi We are getting ours from Carpet Call, Cezzane Ash...its very much similiar to Blackbutt. I had actually seen it insalled at an acquitance house. Thats how we decided to go for it. We are paying $100/m2. This is because we are having engineered flooring in our entrance, 4 bedrooms, kitchen, meals and family area. We are also getting carpet thru them. All for $25500. hope that helps !!! Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 6Jan 04, 2010 4:56 pm Sveta, I went to carpet call's builders division showroom on Saturday (Supposed to get a discount below the shops). There quote was $108 square metre for supply & installation of Cezanne blue gum. We need 150 square metres so I was expecting a better deal. Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 7Jan 04, 2010 5:33 pm We also went to Carpet Call, they have an Engineered Timber called Brazilian Blue Gum ( $115m2 installed), which we couldn't find anywhere else. Closest we could get was Sydney Blue Gum. If you have seen it anywhere else please let me know. Yeah I am leaning towards Engineered Timber as well. . Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 8Jan 04, 2010 6:24 pm Damitha, The Cezanne Blue Gum is the Brazilian Blue Gum in a one strip format (they call 1 strip cezanne and 3 strip rembrandt). It appears that my quote of $108 a square metre was not to bad as you have been quoted $115. It may give you room to haggle a bit. I'm still struggling in my mind to pay that though and will be looking around some other smaller flooring retailers on the weekend. Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 9Jan 04, 2010 11:11 pm The quality of a product for 69 a m2 installed would worry me greatly. A decent quality timber floor will COST that for the retailer to buy, then they have to make a small margin and pay a layer. Be careful. You want David Jones, but are looking at Aldi prices!!! Be warned. Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 10Jan 04, 2010 11:40 pm Hi SKS, We got out quote when there was a sale and the fact we are doing the whole house with them gave us the leverage to bargain. Dont believe the crap they give us about giving a better deal than retail. We went with the sales guy. When we first bought our carpet, he was working at the Riverton outlet. Then when we decided on our timber, he was working at Cannington outlet. If they say 108, bargain and get them to contact you. Be firm on the price you have in mind and dont call them once you have let them know what you have in mind. Trust me they will call you back. You could spend several nights sleepless and keep looking at your phone all the time but its worth it Good luck. Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 12Jan 05, 2010 6:19 pm Did you pay the deposit. if not you can still bargain to bring the price down, as you have not confirmed anything from your side. The sales guy had come over to our place and made the offer. He was on the phone with his manager but was really good to us. Re: Engineered Flooring Costs Perth 15Apr 02, 2012 2:03 pm Has anyone installed the Blue Gum (Brazillian blue gum supplied by Carpet Call) and found the quality really bad? I am having issues with dents. It's so easy to dent. One drop of an object (like a toy car, size and weight of a computer mouse), one deep dent. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15922 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6162 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13103 |
