Hi Jason....so you like the odd glass of red We have just sold our shiraz vineyard to build our dream house....still not sure if we,ve done the right thing Cheers everyone Mel Re: Introductions Please! 51Jan 24, 2008 2:30 am Hi all. Just discovered this forum. Lots of useful stuff for people like us who'd like to build a new home. We're a little way off that as we've only been in Oz a couple of months but since we arrived we have at least managed to whittle down the favourite six or seven designs we'd seen on the web to a shortlist of, er, 18 ..... d'oh! Re: Introductions Please! 52Jan 26, 2008 5:20 am Da Vinci's Badger....very interesting!
Who knew that in 15th / 16th Century Italy there was a population of Mustelidae just prime for the great inventor's artistry? You find out something new every day.... Fiona Re: Introductions Please! 53Jan 28, 2008 2:16 am Hi all - really love the look of this forum and you guys seem friendly
Living in Northern Sydney - and 'thinking' about knocking down and rebuilding. Found this forum after googling and finding a few of your blogs - and pretty much all of you guys mention this forum and how fantastic this forum is (I agree). Appears there is a large contingent in Victoria - although have read of some from Ryde and Epping - which is near me (Turramurra). On the one hand it's fantastic and fortunate that such a wealth of information and your experiences are here for me - but on the other it also hits home how much can go wrong. Still I suppose it's all been worth it in the long run for the majority of you good folks. Looking forward to reading and learning from you guys - and if I can - to be able to contribute to this wonderful e-community. Cheers, Steve Re: Introductions Please! 55Feb 26, 2008 8:20 pm After making a handful of posts in other threads I guess it's only fair I should reveal a bit about ourselves.
Mrs and I are 40-somethings, 2 of 3 kids still at home, presently living in but building for the first time in Morwell, about 150 k's east of Melbourne. I'm a Dual Trade E/I at Aust Paper and she's an SSO at Lowanna College in Moe. Our builder is the M mob. We never really considered a private builder because to me they seem like 'backyarders.' It's interesting that many of the local builders with good reputations are now expanding to become reasonable sized companies anyway, so quality one-man-band operations are hard to pick. Our block is in a court in the final stage of an estate on the north east fringe of the town. Sorry to rub it in to all you suburbanites, but 885m2 only cost $80k here! Makes up for the $17k builders mark-up for regional areas I guess! Anyhoo, we've been told to collect and install our sign on Thursday (28/2) so they know where to start scratching the dirt and dropping materials off to. I guess I'm like most other members in that I decided to join this forum not just to share our experience and pick up hints, but to help out where I can with queries etc as well. For some reason I've found the whole process simple and not overly stressful so far, so maybe I can help people to cut through the stress that they shouldn't really be putting themselves through. Re: Introductions Please! 56Feb 26, 2008 8:30 pm Welcome to the forum Eager!!!

Welcome Eager Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Introductions Please! 58Mar 04, 2008 10:55 am Hi Everyone
I'm from Adelaide, and have been lurking for a while, doing a bit of silent research while we've been looking for a building site. We're looking for a 600-800m2 block (with a really old house on it) so we can knock it down and start again. We have been hunting for this for 9 months already and come close to getting a couple of properties but keep getting pipped at the post ... very frustrating. In the meantime I'm going to be planning my dream home so we can sign up with a builder as soon as we settle. Anyway, wish me luck, and I'll see you all in various sections of the forum. Bye for now!
