Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 3Jan 16, 2008 11:45 am I would say keep it separate, but in saying that....how big would it make the bathroom??? Is it is too small for a bathtub, basin and shower???
If the bathroom CAN fit all of that, then keep the toilet separate.... Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 4Jan 16, 2008 11:56 am The house has two adults and three kids. Currently one main bathroom (with everything together), and a small ensuite.
The total available area is 3.6m by 3.6m (perfect square). Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 6Jan 16, 2008 12:00 pm Have the toilet behind a half or full wall in the bathroom, so it is screened from general view. There is a toilet vent available, that has a vacuum in the ceiling with ducts to areas you want to evacuate air from. So, it can be ducted to the toilet bowl, evacuating those nasty odours.
Now for the real question..... WHERE TO FIT THE BIDET!!! Ash. Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 7Jan 16, 2008 12:02 pm Cabinfever The house has two adults and three kids. Not sure how old your kids are....but imagine three teenagers fighting for the bathroom + toilet at the same time!!! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 8Jan 16, 2008 12:12 pm If you're worried about space - Caroma have a toilet and handbasin in one (plus it's water saving)
I think separate would be better for morning bathroom logistics. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 10Jan 16, 2008 1:32 pm Al - a friend of Corey Worthington's?
I would have hated to see the bathroom of that house in the morning - imagine 500 people at your home at a party! After 4 years - we're in! I would have hated to see the bathroom of that house in the morning - imagine 500 people at your home at a party! Hope he had a seperate WC. Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 12Jan 16, 2008 1:38 pm You know what...i don't think it would have made much of a difference having a seperate WC anyway!!! Do you???? Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 13Jan 17, 2008 2:11 pm I prefer seperate option, but if it makes the bathroom really tiny and there is another one available, I'd rather make it all as one and use a halfway to discretely hide it in the room, which I've had in one of my houses.
Stonecutter wrote Quote: If you're worried about space - Caroma have a toilet and handbasin in one (plus it's water saving) I saw the very first one of these ever sold in OZ and while I love the concept - the hand basin is tiny and it is very hard to stop water splashing from your hands onto the cistern as you wash. I'd put this cistern washbasin product into better suited to the seperate toilet room usage, and not for it to be thought of as a bathroom handbasin. Do you really want to clean your teeth leaning over this thing And as it is against the wall behind the cistern, there are some ergonomic issues with getting your hands to a basin that is 50cm away. Can't see it catching on, the ergonomics are awful. And as for kids using it... Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 15Jan 17, 2008 3:08 pm i think the water saver works well in a small standalone toilet as it gets rid of that dinky handbasin taking up other space in the room.
and it also uses the hand washing water to full the cistern. ie once you flush it, the tap starts running until the cistern is full. Either way - I'm a fan of these toilets. No flushing at all and no smells either. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Steve Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 16Jan 17, 2008 3:10 pm seperate, definitely. With 4 kids and one toilet and bathroom it is bad enough. If the toilet and bathroom weren't seperate it would be worse. Thank god there are three males in the house and a happy lemon tree..... Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 17Jan 17, 2008 7:46 pm I'm not sure on this. If you had have asked me a year ago I would have said seperate definitely. However, having lived in our current place for 8 months, with the 3 of us (admittedly Em is only now being toilet trained) sharing a bathroom with the toilet in it, I don't find it that bad. I think the worst part is that our bathroom/toilet is what the visitors have to use, so I have to be mindfull of not leaving stuff out on the bench, and making sure the place is clean (says she who really needs to clean the shower!)... but that's a whole nother issue.
Ideally seperate would be better but if it's a matter of space, then I wouldn't worry too much if it's all together. It's all about what you think you will be able to live with. Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 18Jan 17, 2008 9:05 pm Our council wouldn't allow a waterless toilet! Re: Separate WC versus big bathroom ? 20Mar 06, 2008 7:40 pm I guess I have the same question but a different situation.
There are only two of us... What do you helpful people out there think? I just realised how tiny the toilet is. I think you would have to squeeze up next to it to open the door. Really torn.... Any advice? Thank you so much for your response. I have drawn a pedestrian gate in - for curb appeal, let's see how much costs come in at.
