My lease is actually up at the end of March... and my house is supposed to be finished by March/April... be interesting to see what happens there!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 710Dec 21, 2009 10:51 am Beck, I love your kitchen - even though it's just a snippet shot of one part of the kitchen! Hats off to your hubby! He's done an amazing job! It looks so seamless!!!!! Your colour choices have tied in very well too! Yeah, early termination of a rental lease is such a bugg3r isn't it! The payment that is. We'll be in the same situation next year and I'm not loking forward to the $$ "spent" on this aspect Building thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22917 27.07.09 Contract signed. 08.09.09 Site scraped. 18.09.09 Slab completed! 23.11.09 Bricking done 09.03.10 - Tiling 15.04.10 PCI 01.05.10 Handover Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 711Dec 21, 2009 3:16 pm The house is officially ours I have the keys in my hot little hands Handover went smoothly as suspected but the day was certainly not drama free unfortunately. About 5 mins before walking out the door to meet the SS for handover I get a phone call from the tiler who's doing the main floors for us. He tells me that there is a major problem with the quality of the tiles and that they are all different sizes which means he can't get an even grout line and that a few of them are uneven so they're not even laying completely flat So I called Amber tiles and told them the situation and asked if someone could meet with me out on site as I was heading out there now. The sales lady who we dealt with met me there and agreed that they weren't up to standard and that they would replace them with a different batch but that they couldn't get them out until tomorrow (Tuesday) after lunch So not only does the tiler have to rip up about 16m2 of tiles he's already layed but he's also lost 1 1/2 days which means it won't be finished this week as planned. Now we're having a dispute between the tiler and Amber as to how much they're going to re-imburse him for their stuff up. Oh fun fun, just what we needed 3 days before xmas Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 712Dec 21, 2009 3:48 pm Oh bek i had a similar problem with my tiling, but my tiler explained to me right at the beginning that the grout lines would have to be slightly thicker than i'd hoped as the tiles were ok, but not perfect. I was ok with this, but when it came down to it the main problem was that the slab was not perfectly level hasn't turned out too bad, but it's definitely not perfect.. i really hope they sort it out between themselves and get a move on... good on you for ringing amber though and passing the problem on to them 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 713Dec 21, 2009 4:00 pm Lovely you must be very pleased with how everything has turned out Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 714Dec 21, 2009 4:32 pm Jess - Oh bummer I didn't realise you had a similar problem. It just sucks to get this far pretty well incident free and then to have something like this happen on the day of handover Anyway, just out of curiousity how much did you get charged from your phone company for a line connection to the new house ? So i've organised insurance, gas bottles for the cooker, new phone connection, electricity and all I have to do now is confirm which provider we'll use for the internet. Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 715Dec 21, 2009 4:37 pm it's about $300.00 to connect - i haven't organised that bit yet though, thats the last thing on my list. i also haven't decided for the internet yet they charge the $300.00 to your first bill though 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 716Dec 21, 2009 4:50 pm The expenses of the actual move are just crazy aren't they. There goes the new lounge suite and bed I was going to buy. The money for that got gobbled up just in the 4 weeks of rent we'll have to pay here, gas bottles, new phone line connection, hire truck etc etc... It is all stuff we had budgeted for (well apart from the extra rent) but to be honest I kind of forgot how expensive the move is Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 717Dec 21, 2009 8:13 pm Congrats Beck!!!!! How annoying about the tiles! But at least your tiler is on to it, and Amber have admitted the tiles aren't up to standard. So it will get fixed. I can't even imagine how good those keys feel Living the dream. 4 horsey acres in the country. What's the next project??? Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 718Dec 22, 2009 7:15 am Thanks Kristi You'll have those keys before you know it as well. It certainly doesn't seem like a year ago that we purchased our land. It's gone so quick. So today is going to be interesting. Amber can't get the new tiles to site until lunch so there goes another half a day lost. They are prepared to discount the tiles by a whopping $300 even though its cost our tiler closer to $500 and they're only prepared to give it to him in store credit which he isn't happy about because as you can imagine at this time of year he wants cash, not store credit. Plus he's already purchased all of his glue and tools he needs for our job we he actually gets from Beaumont Tiles. So I told the lady who we're dealing with at Amber to get the manager to call me tomorrow because it wasn't good enough and that he would need to sort something else out for our tiler. Fingers crossed this can all be sorted today Re: Beck's Coral Hamilton, HANDOVER TODAY 21/12, PICS GALORE 719Dec 22, 2009 8:24 am -Rebekah- The expenses of the actual move are just crazy aren't they.
