Hi All.
Hope someone can help me with a small question?
When the overhead cupboards are installed what is the color of the laminate under the cupboard?
Is it the color of the doors and sides of the cabinets or is it white????
Cheers

Re: Kitchen Overhead Cupbaords 8Dec 09, 2009 3:57 pm I think it's usually white unless the underside is above eye level, in which case the underside is more visible and the colour will usually match the fronts and sides of cupboards. Re: Kitchen Overhead Cupbaords 9Dec 09, 2009 3:59 pm Our overhead cupboards are in Espresso Ligna, a chocolate. Underneath is white - same colour as the shelves inside. Re: Kitchen Overhead Cupbaords 10Dec 09, 2009 5:25 pm If you're going for a darker finish on your boards it would be well worth talking with your kitchen specifier about making SURE that the undersides of cabinets are coloured to match...if this is important to you. SOME fabricators do it as a matter of course but the bottom line is that using white melamine is cheaper, so particularly on volume builds this might be a hidden zing that catches some people out. Any halfway decent specifier/designer/cabinetmaker should at least draw this to your attention. The bottom of the cabinets may not be visible from further away when standing, but in an open plan environment as soon as one sits down the disparity may become obvious. On top of this it is quite possible that as the owner/occupier of such a nice new kitchen it might start to really annoy you after a while if the wall unit bases are not matched (in a darker board situation) - conversely white undersides provide better light reflection and thus better illumination of your work surfaces. There is no fixed rule as to one way or the other. Cheers, Earl Re: Kitchen Overhead Cupbaords 11Dec 09, 2009 5:27 pm Ours are white too, but we can't see it from normal eye level. Re: Kitchen Overhead Cupbaords 13Dec 09, 2009 6:51 pm It's good you did that Caroline, I would want mine the same underneath too, I think it would really bother me not continuing underneath...then you have another colour starting on the splashback...then another on the the benchtop....then the cupboards. Re: Kitchen Overhead Cupbaords 16Dec 09, 2009 7:44 pm Yep, our kitchen cupboards are Parbury Artic White "lustre" and the underneath of our overheads are also Parbury Artic White "lustre." Every other house which I have lived in, all had the same old "white" which was inside the the cupboards. PCI Done Bigger the better for storage for me IMO. But I guess it's harder to tell the cost/benefit in your example - mainly the 'cost'? If you go 700mm, what are you doing extra… 2 1672 Hi, Can anyone give me approx. price for overhead cupboards. TIA 0 16639 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6702 |
