We have electric boosted solar atm and it's great, our electricity bill in summer is lower (run reverse cycle air con in summer and heating in winter) so the only variable between seasons is the hot water essentially. We've previously had instantaneous gas and that was brilliant too. I'd love gas boosted solar though and we have included it as an option but may ditch it if we can't afford it in our build knowing that gas is a better option than electric anyway. Gas is cheaper than off peak electric. Solar is cheaper than both of those but it takes longer to recover the cost of set up too. Re: Hot Water system Solar or Gas? 9Dec 08, 2009 10:35 pm We have natural gas to the house so we went for a solar with a gas booster, cost $2000 more than the gas system but with energy prices going up and we plan to be in this house of at least 10year it was worth the extra cost. Early days yet as we only moved in 6 weeks ago. Haven't run out out of hot water though. Ours… 7 3736 |
