We are looking at going Naked in our new home with iinet, rather than getting a normal landline and being stuck with Telstra.
Have any of you done this?
How easy was the process?
Did you have to pay both Telstra and iinet to get set up?

So good not having to pay for a phone line we don't use. HOWEVER!!! Keep in mind though if you have a house alarm that calls out to your mobile it requires a standard phone line. Hence when we move into our new house we have to go back to Telstra & standard ADSL. I think that it has something to do with the area that we live in. What makes it worse, is that all we are allowed to do is go with Telstra for our land line as it is classed as regional area. We have never had a single drop out. When we moved out of of house (to be demolished) to our rental we were without a phone for about a month (there was a stuff up with the wiring or something) and used 3 Mobile Broadband. But that was the only time we were without service. I can't speak highly enough of iinet. Never had a problem. We were with TPG previously and I think we were calling for support at least once a fortnight. They were a shocker!! Then we built. Then I contacted iiNet & paid them to pay Telstra to install a new line to the house. Once the line was installed, iiNet setup my naked connection. I did not need an existing number etc to go Naked. iiNet installed (well, Telstra did) the line, then iiNet stripped me naked. It's been great ever since it was installed (about 15 months). I have the iiNet modem/router in my lan cupboard & have patched the routers output phone line to the room with the telephone base unit. It all looks line a normal phone line & works a treat. It does take about 6 weeks from start to finish though... but worth the wait not to have to pay Telstra ever again. Thanks for the update. OR a monitored alarm, but I've heard many alarm systems let you use a mobile phone these days. I just couldn't find any threads on the iinet boards about building a new house, rather than just moving to an established house, which is why I posted here rather than there! You may be able to change your alarm to use a mobile phone call the monitoring company, or even your own mobile so you can cut the monitoring company out of the loop. 8 40697 I haven’t.
