Re: Which stage take longest time to complete? 5Nov 23, 2009 8:04 pm i'm thinking painting would be the longest part of the process. tileings usually a week maybe two paintings always 2 if the tilers 2 if not more carpenters always around a week for fix out cleaners a day plumbing fit offs a day bricking is a big job but usually done in gangs which makes it quicker. roofings the same. Re: Which stage take longest time to complete? 7Nov 24, 2009 11:29 am Awww, like the first poster I was hoping it was lock up and the rest would be smooth sailing. I think I'm going to be climbing up the walls come next year! I guess the upshot is that atleast once workers are indoors, its not as weather dependent (just muddier :/ ). Re: Which stage take longest time to complete? 8Nov 24, 2009 12:12 pm Djelibeybi Agreed. Our final stage took 6 months (June - November). The rest of the build up to that point was only about 4 months. *sigh* Don't scare me Djelibeybi. It only took us 2 months from slab to almost finish fixing stage. Hoping to move in Feb...... Maybe not...... according to your speed. Building Plantation homes in Brisbane North. TNT Re: Which stage take longest time to complete? 9Nov 26, 2009 2:06 pm Absolutely the finishing off!! My house started 20th July Slab stage 3rd August (2 weeks) Frame stage 24th August (3 weeks) Lock up stage 28th September (5 weeks) Fixing stage 19th October (3 weeks) Still waiting for completion (5 weeks and counting) Think it's cos you have more varying tradespeople in at final stage - tiling, painting, plumbing, electrical, concreting etc Current build Porter Davis Brookwater 49, Eucalypt Wollert Build: 24th Jul 2015 - Approx Mar 2016 Previous build DFH Columbia 21, Lyndarum Epping North Build:20th Jul 2009 - 18th Dec 2009 Re: Which stage take longest time to complete? 10Nov 26, 2009 3:06 pm kes1984 Think it's cos you have more varying tradespeople in at final stage - tiling, painting, plumbing, electrical, concreting etc Yeah I think you're right there - more things that can go wrong as well but also the most noticable. But all I can say is "wow" some builds go so fast! I'm in it for long haul hehe. After my bricks were delayed for almost 2 months I've had to take a very zen attitude to the whole thing. Half way through the frame (double story) and just hit another delay! Hopefully its not a costly one though. Re: Which stage take longest time to complete? 11Nov 26, 2009 3:14 pm Hope it all works out soon for you!! Quick is not always best when it comes to building. Some of the really quick builders are the ** ones. Re: Which stage take longest time to complete? 13Nov 26, 2009 4:48 pm oh damn! My tiling was just done late last week! lol Current build Porter Davis Brookwater 49, Eucalypt Wollert Build: 24th Jul 2015 - Approx Mar 2016 Previous build DFH Columbia 21, Lyndarum Epping North Build:20th Jul 2009 - 18th Dec 2009 Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20857 Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6300 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn. Just the way it is. 1 8951 |
