Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 09, 2009 2:53 pm Hi all, Been a quiet reader of the forums for a while, though first time creating a thread. My question is in regards to how long, after sending off your first progress/slab invoice did you receive your First Home Owner's Grant payment? I understand that I'm *supposed* to receive it when they get the first/slab invoice but there have been a whole bunch of delays as I'm going through my bank (as the approved agent of the SRO - vic). They've been absolutely hopeless with getting my payment to me and now they're playing the buck passing game (as banks seemed to do like it's an Olympic event). First they said that the delay was with the SRO but I chased it up with the SRO only to find out that they hadn't received anything against the property (this happened twice). The SRO assured me that it should only take 24-48 hours once they have the application with the invoice. It's so far been 5 weeks since the invoice went in and then the invoice had to be paid out of my loan after 2 weeks as to not delay the builder any longer, instead of coming out of the FHOG as was initially agreed. So yeah, how long did it take for your bank to get into gear and cough up your grant, or how long did it take for the SRO to do it if you applied directly? Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 2Nov 10, 2009 9:35 am We got our approval in about 3 working days (applied through our bank), and i think 2 more days after that the payment was deposited in our bank account, the progress payment was done on a different date. So all in all probably about 7-10 days in total considering weekends etc .. It takes longer if you apply for it yourself, also, they ask for more documentation etc .. Hope this helps --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 3Nov 10, 2009 9:54 am Mine was credited into the account in 4 days from the day the bank received our slab invoice... quite fast..I was surprised to see 32k sitting in my account Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 4Nov 10, 2009 11:35 am Thanks for the response, guys. That seems to match so far with what I've heard of other people's experiences.
I've taken it up with the branch manager now to hopefully add some accountability to the whole mess. Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 5Nov 10, 2009 12:57 pm we are with CBA and the application went through them.. and so did the money.. never had the pleasure of that much cash hitting my account however I believe the time taken for money to go through was about 10 days Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 6Nov 10, 2009 3:17 pm Mine took about a week or so once they actually got the damn form. We sent the form in way back earlier than we needed to, but had to wait for the documentation (contract, etc) and when we sent them in, we waited...and then waited and waited...and heard nothing. So 2 months or so later we called and they never received the documentation apparently. So we had to get further copies made...*sigh* How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 7Nov 10, 2009 5:31 pm Mine took about 6 weeks to come through - i contacted them a few times and they said it was on its way. Wasn't until i rang the number and got a different person that they told me part of my paperwork was missing so i had to fax it through to them. After that it was only a few days. Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 8Nov 11, 2009 7:06 am Does it get paid to your personal account or straight to the homeloan account ? We'll be due about $12K back once it's been applied - i was under the impression it either gets paid (a) at the 1st progress payment (post slab) or (b) when the house is at lock up or handover. Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 9Nov 11, 2009 12:04 pm Ours was paid to our personal account. I was of the impression you nominate which account you want it paid to - unless your bank, lending institution or builder has done all that for you? Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 10Nov 12, 2009 6:36 am Not sure, Jason's doing all that - that's good - then I can pay my business account back the amount I lent to pay the deposit Re: How long did it take for you to receive the FHOG? 11Nov 12, 2009 9:16 am Ours is being used as the first progress payment, so we're not paying so much interest on our mortgage initially. At the end of our build the funds will be paid into our personal bank account. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20642 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11680 Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7239 |
