Sometimes they are all people can afford!! I couldn't afford the $75K site works Adenbrook wanted to charge. I can handle a few restrictions .... Jet I was talking to a builder that uses Soil Testing Australia and $75,000 in site costs is a complete joke. Even on highly reactive soils site cost should not exceed $15,000 in the absolute worst case scenario. We got to walk around it and it is starting to feel like a house. There were a couple of disappointments re size of the living area (smaller then we thought) but hey you win some you lose some. At least the main bedroom is how I imagined Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 50Dec 17, 2007 6:45 pm Your house is looking good. I wouldn't worry about sizes until the walls go up. My friends thought their WIR was tiny until Dixon put up the walls and now they are shocked how much they will fit in it!
Have you got a rough idea of when it will be finished? Keep the photos coming, I am living my house dreams through you. Still no word from Dixon about our contract I am now focusing that we will have it in Jan. Jet Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 51Dec 17, 2007 10:30 pm Nic - congrats on your frame! It looks amazing. I agree with Jet - once it gets sheeted out you will have a better feel for the dimensions. It really is deceptive at the frame stage. They're flying along! Jamie and I are really happy for you! We're heading out to finalise our contract today and choose all of our colours... should be pretty cool. By this rate you're going to be nearly finished by the time we start! Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 53Dec 18, 2007 5:45 pm Andrew, that's great news. I can't wait to follow your journey. Finger's crossed we will be living right next door before too long. When will you be starting construction? Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 55Jan 22, 2008 8:55 pm Hi everyone,
Well I’m happy to report that our roof is on!!! Finally…it felt like forever had gone by and nothing was done. The damn rain in Brisbane was driving me nuts. The roof is colorbond Jasper if anyone is interested. The plumbing has been done. The windows have been delivered and should be put in this week. The electricity is also being done this week as are the baths – it’s all happening. Apparently there is quite a back log with the brickies because of all the rain. I trust they know what they are doing…. Contract date is 22 May. I would love for it to move quickly from now on! Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 57Jan 23, 2008 7:20 am Wow, it looks amazing!!! It has been a while since they've done anything, hopefully it will all start happening quickly now. Very jealous.
Jet Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 58Jan 23, 2008 3:20 pm Thanks guys. The bricks are layburn I think. We are rendering anyway. It will be interesting to see what they look like.
They haven't done any more work today. That's what I hate - all the in between days they do nothing. Think how much quicker jobs could get done if they just worked constantly! Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 59Jan 29, 2008 7:14 am Yay, we finally recieved our contract!!! Should be about a week for the builder to sign off on it and then in to council. I'm so happy we finally have some movement. As long as I'm in by xmas I will be happy.
Jet Hi, I contracted a Builder to do a Garage to Bedroom + ensuite conversion (Class 1a), the Builder engaged the Certifier and Engineer and received BDA from the Certifier… 0 5809 8 6684 5 7205 |
