Haven't been there but they advertise on the radio a lot!! Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 17Dec 11, 2007 1:34 pm _Al_ eimaj This place is very good - great selection. It's in Ringwood too http://www.chippystimber.com.au/ Eimaj Interesting price list, merbau goes up in price the longer it is. From $3.15 (2.1m) to $4 (5m) Perhaps because it is a tropical rainforest timber. Do the world a favour - buy a eucalypt instead. The radially sawn timber is a great idea ... Radcon are doing some great stuff with smaller trees. Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 18Dec 11, 2007 5:06 pm Its because its harder to sell a pack of 'shorts' than a pack of 'longs' and you end up with more shorts.
Merbau could be available in lengths well over 6 metres save for the fact it has to be put into 20ft containers to come here - hence you cannot buy a length of merbau in any size longer than 5.7m Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 19Dec 11, 2007 7:12 pm mattwalker Rob Cousens promote the largest indoor display of timber flooring in Melbourne. Haven't been there but they advertise on the radio a lot!! haven't heard them on the radio but maybe they are talking about indoor timber flooring as opposed to decking? Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16118 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6243 The most likely cause of your timber swelling (parquetry?) is either a plumbing leak or carelessly leaving water on floors after use or both. Without seeing, i am ignoring… 1 3348 |
