Also speak to the builder about the frame damage. They can replace the noggins that you have shown as damaged, or at least put up another adjacent to (on top or underneath) them for added strength. See how you go. Re: damaged part of framing 4Dec 08, 2007 10:53 pm Thanks phoenix for fixing up my link didnt realise i typed it in wrong.
I remember seeing a similar pic with damaged noggins posted on here a few months back. Sorry Michelle should be working now. Re: damaged part of framing 5Dec 10, 2007 7:11 am clath,
That piece of wood is fine! It is unimportant to the structure.. It is simply there to keep the upright post (stud) from bowing. Re: damaged part of framing 6Dec 10, 2007 7:28 am Matt is correct - noggins are not as important for load bearing as the stud (upright ones), although I'll agree that the one in the photo isn't a good look.
Was that noggin a once off, or do you have lots of them like that? Re: damaged part of framing 7Dec 10, 2007 1:08 pm I got a few of those as well.
When the other guys start working on other parts of the house (e.g. wall, roof, ..etc), they will knock off a few more... don't worry too much about that. Just make sure you find an inspector to check it before the internal walls are on! Re: damaged part of framing 8Dec 10, 2007 9:43 pm Thanks guys for having a look at the noggin pic.
Perry there were three noggins like that. I agree its not a good look, Ahuang sorry didnt understand the meaning behind what you said "they will knock off a few more"? If as matt says its nothing to worry about then i wont. But i will get kevin to look at it when the tiles and bricks start. Re: damaged part of framing 9Dec 11, 2007 7:46 am What I mean was, when the other guys start working on other areas, there will be situations where the noggins might block the way of what they are trying to do (e.g. to install the roof, brick, pipe, plumbing,...etc). They will just remove those noggins... It's hard to comment as the photos area bit dark ( you might need a new 15 - just got one and wow ) Jokes aside, I can see one member that is cracked. I would find a… 2 2303 STEFF62 Framing should be fine, but he will only be able to nail the baseplates in, I wouldnt think you can dynabolt them after 24 hours. My question is, how is he… 1 5920 8 10001 |
