Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Missing Pegs 2Oct 14, 2009 4:47 pm I don't think so. Two of mine went walkabout at separate stages, but just before they started site works they repegged my area. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Missing Pegs 3Oct 14, 2009 5:02 pm I'm assuming your land has titled? I would be concerned because it is now your responsibility to make sure they're still there; pre-titled land, it's the land developers. Pegs are there so builders know what area they're working with, without that information it's hard to gauge distances. Sometimes they get pushed down into the soil, have a go at digging the corner of your block to see if you can get them. As i said, majority of the time they get pushed down because tradies and the like are constantly using the area. If they have gone walkabouts, builders may charge you a fee for a re-establishment survey which is basically using a GPS to work out the exact dimensions of your block. I'll have a look to see if they've been pushed into the ground. Won't be happy if they charge me for another survey Re: Missing Pegs 5Oct 14, 2009 7:40 pm Same issue we had. Most of the pegs were gone and made it to a stage that the builder wanted us to do a resurvey. Obtained cost from the original surveyors and they wanted us to pay $1350.00. Ouch. So I rang the developer and said, "hey help us out here" and they had their guys come out two days and redo the pegs.. All sorted. I would ring the developer and see where you stand. You don't want to fork out for a resurvey. Our SS said he needed 3 in order to do the setout for the house. When you visit your block, check to see if the holes in the ground from where the pegs were are still there. I was lucky enough to find 2 of them and put some pegs back in the ground, therefore escaping the re-establishment survey cost. Also remember that your fencer will need your pegs too, so preserve them during the build once you get it sorted out. Good luck, I hope you can get away without a re-survey. Re: Missing Pegs 8Oct 14, 2009 9:19 pm Why does it cost so much for a re-survey? Our 1st survey had like 3 pegs missing or some ****, but I have neighbours on either side.. a re-peg was done I think and that was like $300, if that.
