They found us the best agent in our area and we negotiated the commission. It was 2.4% up to $500k and 10% for any amount over $500k. The standard rate on offer was 3% so we saved about $1000 plus it encouraged the RE to get us a price over $500k Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Estate agent fees selling in Vic - how much did you pay?? 5Oct 06, 2009 5:18 pm Ari 10% for over 500k?? that's insane. It must be an area thing or something We got 2.5% including GST without trying. Well they were trying to tell us that our house was worth under $500k and we knew it was worth more. And when you think about it, that's only $100 for every extra $1000 they got us. If we had accepted their suggestion and sold for under $500k we would have lost approx $20k. We were happy with the outcome Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." I have known a couple of people that have sold with them, and been really happy with the results. Re: Estate agent fees selling in Vic - how much did you pay? 8Aug 24, 2010 6:01 pm We paid 2% commission, plus advertising (which was quite reasonable). The commission would have included the auction, but we accepted an offer before auction. Last September, Mt Waverley in Melbourne. Re: Estate agent fees selling in Vic - how much did you pay? 9Aug 24, 2010 8:12 pm Our commissions have always been around the 2% but with added incentives if they reached certain prices. So if they got 550k they would get 2% if they got 575k it would go to 3% or something like that. We just negiotiate the commission always. If we sold this house we are in now, I would not work off a percentage but a fixed price. Friend just sold their property and paid 30k in commissions for a property worth 1.2 mil. It took absolutely no more effort in selling this property than a property worth half the price so why do the agents get more commission? If there are any agents reading this I would be most interested Thats why I like fixed pricing.... better for some properties (hope this makes sense) Mrs B Re: Estate agent fees selling in Vic - how much did you pay? 10Aug 24, 2010 9:22 pm 1.75% commission, excluding GST and advertising. I'd recommend our RE agent, Nelson Alexander over and over again. They were brilliant. And honest ..... Building on an acre in Macedon ......one day.
