Next build with PD or a small specialist builder methinks. Re: Building Monterey with Henley 4Oct 05, 2009 2:25 pm Hey Divya! We will be having a Monterey right next door to us. It is a really beautiful home Hopefully you can follow the progress of those of us building with henley and it may help with your upcoming build. I know others who have built before us on here have been really helpful! Let us know how it all progresses!! Re: Building Monterey with Henley 5Oct 05, 2009 2:59 pm Hi Divya. Congratulations on your decision. We are also building the Monterey. I'll be honest and say getting through the contract stage was painful but since then everythings been wonderful. We had site start two months ago and we already have our kitchen in! We are getting our tiling throughout the house done by Henley. Yes, its expensive but worrying about leveling the slab is there problem, not our problem. We've had carpet quotes of between $7,000 and $10,000 for the study, Living, and 4 bedrooms. That's for pure wool carpets so I'm sure you could get something much cheaper. Re: Building Monterey with Henley 6Oct 05, 2009 4:38 pm Hi.. We were looking at building the Monterey... two things put us off (not the Monterey.. just Henley). 1) We wanted floorboards and they wouldnt do floorboards. 2) Why dont Henley do carpet? I just dont have the time to worry about these things, thats why Im paying a builder to do it for me. Surely it couldnt be that hard for them to do carpet? Painting is a harder job than carpet!! Anyway, it was enough for time poor people like us to look elsewhere, and find a builder that did the timber floors and carpets without me having to ask for it... just part of the deal. I wonder how many others find this unusual? To me not having carpets is like saying "we dont paint your walls". Lovely home though, agreed. April 2010 Re: Building Monterey with Henley 7Oct 05, 2009 5:10 pm Macy's carpet, who Henley used to refer people to, went bust last year. Apparently they also had too many issues with the scratching of floorboards which makes sense given how many people on this site have had issues with the floating floorboards scratching. Re: Building Monterey with Henley 8Oct 05, 2009 5:46 pm Hi there, I loved the Monterey and wanted to build it but it didn't suit our block so have build a Verve/Essence house. Know many people who have built the Monterey and love it. Henley are great the contract stage is time consuming and anxious waiting for pricing etc but when they start they get going. You get issues with every builder at some point. As for flooring you will find a better price and control of quality doing it yourself after handover. If you are concerned about borrowing the money to pay for it for the loan, all you do is get a quote and give it to your lender. The valuer will value the house with the flooring then and you have the funds at completion to pay for it!!! Hope this helps you as do the other Henley people on this forum. Cheers Harribeka Re: Building Monterey with Henley 9Oct 05, 2009 9:57 pm DIVYA Hi All, I'm new to this forum to start a new thread, but viewing this long time since I planned to build a new house. This forum is awesome and it helped me a lot when I decided to build a house. I'll pay deposit today for Monterey with Henley in Lynbrook, Vic. And I'm planning to do flooring privately as Henley charge AUD8,500.00. So could anyone help me to work out approximate cost for flooring? (I would go for capet and tiles). Looking forward more comments about building with Henley. Cheers, Divya Gratz... Nice choice . (My Monterey is completed, handover this Friday.) Solid bamboo floor all around the house 216m2 16k, + 5.4k installation. You could get qway with 16k and install teh floor your self. It will take sometime tho. Re: Building Monterey with Henley 10Oct 06, 2009 2:42 pm Thanks Guys. I'm happy about huge response for Monterey with Henley. Good on you guys. Superbadz, So exciting to hear that ur Monterey is completed. Good Luck I'll keep updated with my progress. Cheers, Divya Building MONTEREY Q1 with Henley Deposit Paid. My experience with Henley has been great. No problems until now and hope it will be like that. Monterey is great house with heaps of space. I am getting timber floor, carpet, driveaway on my own. Its just wait and watch game. I think it more frustrating to wait for land settlement..... Re: Building Monterey with Henley 12Oct 06, 2009 4:48 pm We're building the Monterey Q2. We liked the Monterey initially but it was to big for our block. After signing with PD and getting through to contract stage we pulled out after discovering Henley had introduced the Q2. We signed 3 weeks ago and have got out colour appointment on Sunday. After going through all this with PD we just want to get to contract stage asap. Still undecided on whether we'll get Henley to do the tiling or do it ourselves. We'll have a look at the tiles available on Sunday. We'll be tiling the living areas and back hallway so it may be best to get Henley to do them so they will match up with the bathroom, laundry & toliet Re: Building Monterey with Henley 14Oct 06, 2009 5:05 pm Ari Go into cosham before Sunday and have a look around or else you will be pulling your hair out and killing each other at the colour appointment. We went last Sunday and we've also been through the colour/tiles/electrical selection with PD. We're probably going to go with pretty much the same colour scheme as we chose before. The new Henley display village opens up at Alamanda this weekend so will head down there and get some ideas. How did you find the standard tile selection? Re: Building Monterey with Henley 15Oct 06, 2009 5:07 pm Good. When we had our colour appointment there was another couple there as well. They had a fight and didn't talk to each other for half the appointment We had already been through that a few weeks earlier and went to the actual appointment with everything already picked out. When we signed with PD they had a tile/carpet promo for 3k and we managed to choose all the tiles from cat 1, so I imagine Henley's selection will be pretty similar.
