Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 7Sep 26, 2009 2:08 pm dave- I went with buildsafe, was just under $1k for 200k cover 12mths ago. Just had to do a renewal for another 3 months as I'm not finished and it was almost $500. I've found them to be bloody useless on processing paperwork and getting back to me but I didn't have much luck finding anyone else back when I looked 12mths ago. I would have tried someone else for the renewal but didn't have time to go though all the paperwork again. The thing that pisses me off the most is on my $500 renewal, less than half is the actual premium. Between broker fee, 2 lots of gst, stamp duty and fire levy its cow manure. rant end... hahahah I get what you are saying. I was thinking the same thing. There are 2 lots of fees for similar things and the levies and brokerage fees. I was like Whoa! lol If someone gives me a better quote than them, then I will change but if I can get them to provide a better price...then I guess Id have to stick with them. Re: Owner builder insurance? Who have you gone with? 8Sep 27, 2009 6:09 pm We also obtained a quote via FD Beck's web site. It was very easy to use and not too many questions. I also checked to make sure that they could extend the policy if it takes us longer than 12 months to build. FD Beck didn't have any problems, but when I spoke to Buidsafe it all appeared to be a bit difficult. I also found some good information about insurance polcies on the Owner Builder Advice web site. I had never heard of them prior to your referrals. Home One Forum always comes in handy Re: Owner builder insurance?
