Re: Do I really need a broker? 82Sep 21, 2009 5:26 pm But used car dealers are slick machines.....everyone one of them I've met (bar maybe 2 in my whole life) have been the "how are ya mate", big strong handshakes, latching onto your emotions.....or if you walk in and say you're buying in the next 3-4 months, they magically realise that you can't test drive the car today because you might 'forget' what the car was like.....hehe - that's why i like car shows - you can do all you want without the hassle BTW, on the subject (finally) - we've only just got back an email from the principal of our local MC asking why we didn't want the loan anymore - took him a while we weren't going to make his business or employee any extra $'s - maybe because he was uninformed ! Re: Do I really need a broker? 83Sep 23, 2009 12:52 pm jamesk289 I found that it was actually not to difficult after the first 3/4 banks, I new what I was looking for, said that straight up, an the bankers would then come up with the best deal they could give me. I then sat down with all the info i had, compared apples to apples, all loans had the same features, an chose the best value loan for me. I would strongly suggest you find your loan for yourself, I personally think you can get a better deal, as well as learn as much as possible along the way, that way you know exactly what you have at the end of it. I have always stated that this is a matter of personal choice but I noticed a few things posted here which I can comment on (Please do not take is as an argument) The amount of time you would spend learning potential features, and researching their details and comparing 3/4 lenders by talking to them, having interviews to see if they will accept you as a borrower is considerable. Let's say you earn $25 (or $50 or more) per hour in your job, think of how much that research is costing you. If you use a qualified and experienced mortgage broker, the knowledge is provided to you free of any charges. Secondly, how will you set up a meeting with lenders from other states (which may have keener rates), let alone know all the details of their policy or in fact discover them in the first place (the "free" loan comparison web sites are in fact advertising sites earning an income from those lenders they promote)? Thirdly, a mortgage broker that has experience with many lenders is able to share this experience with you. For example which lender has a habit of losing customer files costing you time? jamesk289 you also know that the loan has actually been processed... This is never an issue with professional brokers who update their customers at every milestone. jamesk289 also that the correct information has been filled out... Lenders will confirm this at loan contract stage and if in doubt (like many customers do) you can ask your mortgage broker to see a copy of your application. jamesk289 the loan is for the right amount... You know that it is the correct amount as you have a Finance Brokers' Agreement which is signed by you and your broker and the amount is confirmed by you several times throughout the lending process. jamesk289 your not waiting on a phone call in 5 mins, 2 weeks later, This happens with many bank lending managers, bank in-house brokers, bank mobile lenders and unprofessional brokers all the same.
