I have been following your blog for a while, and like many of the members of this forum, im deeply shocked and cant believe the "just fix it" attitude. I would have expected PD to bulldozer the house and start again at their expense. Rendering is NOT the answer to weak mortar/******* brick work.
It all comes down to having the right site supervisor, admin person, and of course a good tradie crew. But as you say, PD are cost cutting, hence the tradies care factor also diminishes. House & upgrade prices are constantly increasing, so one would expect the quality also increase...In your case definitely not.
Do not settle for 2nd best, get what you pay for, and thats a new home, not a patched up home, full of defects.
We built a PD cremorne41, just had our 12 month on friday, went really well. We were one of the 1st cremorne owners to have posted a blog, which others have followed and received many tips from our build. I was onsite daily, and fortunate for us we had the best site supervisor, admin person, sales guy, maintenance inspector....I cannot say anything bad about our build, it was built so well. Even after 12 months we have only minor issues. I made it clear from the start that I expect high quality, and thats what I got. Coffee & donuts also help......
I wish you all the best, and hope you have some sanity left after this ordeal finally ends, and that 1 day soon you will move into your new home with the motivation & love it deserves.
