(certainly not I, thats for sure LOL) Makes me hope that I can trust my landscapers to do the job properly (mines included with my land). viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Finished my lawn!!! 12Sep 11, 2009 11:33 pm I guarantee you will not see this done. What you will see is a cheapo levelling of crap soil and some "densified poultry manure" product thrown down and the turf rolled out as if it were carpet and you pumping silly volumes of water into it from that moment on. That's what you will see for the money allocated to house and land packages. Personally I'd like to see more go into these as the long term impact of such gardens is huge for our resources. remember these are packages designed to bring uniformity and some sort of landscape to avoid the days of having houses having empty weed infested front yards wrecking the look of the suburb. It all about short term cosmetics, not sustainability. Re: Finished my lawn!!! 14Sep 12, 2009 7:30 pm It looks great! What did you use to level it and did you do it before or after compacting? What did you use to level it and did you do it before or after compacting? I used a soil spreader/leveler (Hand Held) Like a broom but with 5 x 40cm long metal tubes spread about 4cm apart. And a hired motorised compactor. I used it before compacting. Re: Finished my lawn!!! 16Sep 12, 2009 7:52 pm Wow! It looks sensational. For the garden beds did you do those yourself too? That is the exact look we are after for our back yard. What sort of timber did you use for the garden beds? My karma ran over your dogma Re: Finished my lawn!!! 17Sep 12, 2009 8:48 pm haywgl Wow! Thanks haywg For the edging I just used Treated pine decking from Bunnings. It's cheap too. (I also used it on the dark brown fence in the photos but it's stained). For the pickets I bought them pre-made from a local nusery soil supplier. They we about $10 got 25. I just scewed each end of the 3.6m pine paling with a picket and rubber malleted into the soil. Easy. The plants in the garden beds are Pittosporums. When we started building we bought 21 for $9.99 each (Chris and Marie) and they were about 40cm tall. About 8 months later here you go. A couple questions without starting a new post though, if I may. What quantities of this gear per m2, or am I likely to read that direction on the pack/s? When is optimal time to lay turf in Brisbane and what is your suggestion for a shaded + unshaded backyard? Came up a treat Moody!!
