My house length is 18.19m and i have set backs from front 4m and back 3m so im end up on 20m build length. Porter Davis offered me 1.8m long 6.5m width Alfresco. the question is this worth to build since normal Alfresco will be like 3.5m x 6.5m. I like your opinion on this have to deside 2moro. regards bye for now hi clueness, I love cumberland design. For the back setback, is that an stormwater/ sewage/ water easement? If yes, severl forumers have mentioned u can pay a few hundreds to apply for building over it. If it is building setback, maybe u can consider adding this http://www.blinds.com.au/Images/Product ... wnings-(11).jpg to your alfesco. This is foldable and not considered a fixed structure, so should be fine to the setback requirement. At least u can have a bit more shading in sunny/ rainy times. Re: Alfresco Length 1.8m is it worth 15Aug 27, 2009 2:11 pm Depend on your council, may be you can remove the whole thing. After your house finished, go through other company to build a much bigger pergola/alfresco in timber/other materials. Re: Alfresco Length 1.8m is it worth 16Aug 28, 2009 2:21 am if i go with simillar Alfresco or pergola after the house build i cant build or alter the roof. so its make look seperate from the house. i have not yet confirmed but 2moro going to ask the admin how much it gonna cost me to build as it is if its cheaper i will build it since i missed out on $32000, i have to settle on the next amount $25000. the sales person told me site start on march but after i paid the deposit and they have change it to April. so i cant sign on sept need sign on november. im going to be 7000 short. Re: Alfresco Length 1.8m is it worth 17Aug 28, 2009 5:42 pm clueless2009 basically i heard that you cant build beyond the envelope that includes the decking. but some people say they build it to a certain length but if someone i mean a neighbour informed the council they can ask us to remove. something like that but not sure. I don't see why the council would care. If it is a structure that doesn't need council approval - then you can do what you like. We have done stuff on our 'don't built on envelope', like a garden shed, Kids playground (3m high), deck (ground level), screening walls, etc & soon to do, raise vege gardens - all of which you don't need council approval for. Even if a neighbour did say something to council - I don't see they would care. Call them & ease your mind. Re: Alfresco Length 1.8m is it worth 18Oct 26, 2009 7:34 pm like to update, I m going through the Alfresco that will be costing $3112 + for the slab another $1500+ depends on the soil test. so another thing has been added to my home loan. thanks for all your comments. cheers Re: Alfresco Length 1.8m is it worth 19Oct 27, 2009 8:06 am clueless2009 like to update, I m going through the Alfresco that will be costing $3112 + for the slab another $1500+ depends on the soil test. so another thing has been added to my home loan. thanks for all your comments. cheers Just my 2c... What we did with the alfresco slab was, because our builder was going to charge us over $4000 we decided to cancel it. Later we included it as part of the landscaping while the landscaper pours the concrete slab for the driveway. We just don't think it's necessary for the alfrsco to have the same thick, bulky, expensive slab as the house (to hold the bricks, frames and other stuffs). If the slab is thick/strong enough for the driveway, it's surely more than enough for the alfresco. Most importantly, we saved more than $2000. Only trouble was, during the long construction period, our alfresco area was full of mud and puddles and looks quite messy.
