Browse Forums General Discussion Re: New home - Bad Karma 24Nov 19, 2007 8:38 pm Tam I am not a feng shui guru but I do believe in some things.. A large indoor plant to block the view from the front door to back door can help. Also, unlike every landscaper these days putting in the strappy leaf drought tolerant yuccas (or alike) go for a broad leaf plant either side of the front door (eg bird of paradise or Canna lilies if it is north facing or 'monstera' if the front door is mostly shaded)
And my asian friends recommend for indoors the 'lucky bamboo' and glossy leaved 'money plant' you could find some in St Albans, Footscray or Springvale markets. If u r in eastern region I could guide you xactly where to get the bargains. cheers Re: New home - Bad Karma 25Nov 19, 2007 9:44 pm Tam, what cultural are you from...it will make a difference to what you believe will work for you. My MIL is Italian and she does this oil thing to see if her children and their families have been jinxed. We asked her to look at her oils for us as we went through a bad patch with our house a few years ago. She said we indeed have bad luck in our lives caused by too many inquisitive, steaky beak people surrounding us. She took the curse off us. We had to also put up peppers in our house to keep it clean of bad energy.
I dont care who believes in it or not...do you know how many non believers have asked us for some of our peppers and other objects to remove bad karma from their houses LOL ps...The Abe forum is a great place to visit if you believe in positive thinking(the Secret) Mrs B Re: New home - Bad Karma 26Nov 19, 2007 11:50 pm Start dabbling in number superstition and it will play on your mind. There's no end to it. Stay clear of all of it. As for feng shui, it's a mixture of the bleedin' obvious and the ludicrously stupid.
There's better things to do with life than worry about made up nonsense. Re: New home - Bad Karma 27Nov 20, 2007 2:05 am This is a delightfully interesting and different thread. Sorry about the misfortune that has prompted it though! The responses have been (predictably) polarized. Please let us know how you get on. Ash. I thought last night about getting a mirror at the end of the hallway just beside the back door. And will be trying out some other things mentioned to me. I know sometimes bad patches just happen and hopefully this is one of them. But if I can improve the flow within the house it can all be a plus for me. Re: New home - Bad Karma 30Nov 20, 2007 9:16 am Tam, i've been googling this topic for you and some websites say things such as:
"Placing the foot of your bed in direct alignment with the door is considered bad Feng Shui. It’s even worse if it faces a bathroom or toilet door. Putting a barrier between the foot of the bed and the door is the best solution but if there is not enough room for this, make sure you sleep with the door closed" Maybe a long ottoman or a wooden chest to hold cushions etc at the end of the bed - if there's room? Good Luck! Re: New home - Bad Karma 31Nov 23, 2007 1:41 pm Sounds like a tough three months!
I'm not really sure if I'm one to believe in bad luck, but I certainly grew up in a place where all those things (witches etc) were circulated around. It was a small village overseas. I was young so my memory is patcy, I know we were pretty scared of Gypsies though! And I remember hearing Mum saying something about finding an egg dug into the ground to remove a curse:shock: Anyway here in Oz I was really scared of going to the toilet at night in one of the houses we lived, the fear was related to the dining room which was opposite my bedroom, and on the other side of the bathroom. I thought it was just a childhood thing. Actually I had some horrible dreams or maybe not dreams, but just nights when I couldn't find the light switch & things like that! Now on to married life & once again, it wasn't as bad but a particular house I was kind of scared at night when going to the toilet. I had to go through the laundry which is where the back door to the yard was. Later when we moved from that house to another in the same town I found out that someone had in fact hung himself in the back yard at some time (don't know how long ago). All of a sudden it made sese. The childhood house was one of those really old government double brick places in the suburbs of Canberra & likely would have had a history to it! We have moved house probably in as many times as years we've been together, and apart from those particular two I've been fine in all the rest - even with hubby working away. That's got to mean something. If your block has a history, where people have died or been buried there then perhaps that is part of the cause. As far as a solution goes I have no idea! It would depend on your beliefs (say if you're Christian / Catholic etc) as to which way you may go. Otherwise for the skeptic side of me, I hope like you do too it was just a run of bad luck that will end on it's own. I agree this kind of thing always makes interesting reading. Re: New home - Bad Karma 32Nov 28, 2007 11:17 pm I grew up in a house with some similarities to the above and we lived there in werribee for 11years. The next people to move in lasted 3 weeks! and they were very christian.
man some strange stuff happened there and as kids there were areas of it that we were very uneasy about being near or in. There was one small section of the hall we had to run through at night cause it was creepy. My nightmares of witches, ghosts, and dead stuff ended as soon as we moved out. There is really something to it. Look at it this way, if a house makes you feel good and it is comfy you feel it, even if you don't believe in Feng Shoe (:)). How ever if we get the creeps about somewhere all a sudden it is silly by the sceptics etc. Since moving to our current house we have really prospered. The vibe is really here. The house before felt not here nor there. the one before it was an uneasy comfort and we had trouble getting ahead and with luck. Each time we were looking for a house we discussed how it felt. People always coment on how our current house feels cosy and freindly. I will use wedge Island north of Perth as an example. that is a place that nearly every person I have met that has stayed overnight on enough occasions has experienced weird stuff there at night and that doesn't always involve drugs and alcohol I wonder if the local aborigines think it is a cool place? Another house I lived in was amazing in it's positive vibe! So much happened in all our lives (there was a few of us) in that house. On several occasions visitors would comment on a big white dude being seen round there and he was fantastic. On one night i was talking to this chick on the back patio and all of a sudden her eyes damn near fell oout of her head and her jaw dropped. She was staring behind me and I said is it the big white dude and she nodded slowly. I felt a warm relaxed presence move through half my body then it slowly went. She was gob smacked! It was like a lucky lucky house If something is cool, it's cool. If it isn't cool, it just isn't. You might be able to apply to divert the sewer at your expense.
