JilaMint Ohh ... so you actually WANT a roof with that ! So true, Thanks for your input everyone I just couldn't be bothered painting myself later on if it needed, and besides I hate cleaning the brushes afterwards I think I will speak with the painter and go with the 3 coat system etc, i can't believe it really it should be standard, undercoat and 2 coat colour mmmmmmm these companies are so clever add add add $$$. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19655 FINALLY slab down 5th SEPT Oct 16 Bricking/ plaster starting Dec 1 Painting started END OF CONTRACT IS UP SOON HURRY UP AND FINISH MY HOME..... countdown to 27th Feb. LATROBE 320 WITH DENNIS FAMILY HOMES Re: How many coats of paint did you do? My contract says 2 coats 11Aug 20, 2009 3:53 pm I would never paint with only 2 coats. Not enough cover (and some colours show up a lot worse than others). Minimum on walls should be undercoat and 2 finishing coats. Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: How many coats of paint did you do? My contract says 2 coats 12Aug 20, 2009 3:58 pm We have three as standard, gives a better finish esp that it is sprayed on. Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: How many coats of paint did you do? My contract says 2 coats 13Aug 20, 2009 6:57 pm My brothers house only had 2 coats and you could see all the joins in plaster sheet and any patch ups through the paint. My house (building through Inspired Homes) is 3 coats standard. Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: How many coats of paint did you do? My contract says 2 coats 14Aug 20, 2009 9:39 pm We are building with M and they do 3 coats. Our painter rollered all of our coats and it looks flawless but he said other painters with the company spray the 3 coats on and it still isn't often enough as they are really thin coats. I think 2 rollered coats may be better than 3 sprayed coats for coverage. Re: How many coats of paint did you do? My contract says 2 coats 15Aug 20, 2009 9:53 pm we're building with an independent builder, getting an acrylic undercoat then 2 coats of low sheen Re: How many coats of paint did you do? Just do what any sane person would do: Throw it out and buy a replacement one. Re: How many coats of paint did you do? My contract says 2 coats 18Aug 22, 2009 6:50 pm Sadly with most project builders, 2 coats means 1 undercoat (sometimes coloured to help coverage) and 1 top coat. Re: How many coats of paint did you do? My contract says 2 coats 19Aug 23, 2009 12:26 pm thechlochlo HELP, realized we only have a 2 coat system with no undercoat is this ok? we have been told we can get 3 coats and just pay the painter the extra cost etc but I thought I'd ask first as to what others did. Cheers In our extension I did all the painting myself. Ceilings especially require lots of paint because you want them to be a perfect, plain white. You do not want to see any trace of joins between sheets of gyprock. I started with an undercoat sealer, and then added coats of ceiling white until I was happy with the look. I only use the best quality Solver paints (not their trade line). This took 5 coats in total. I can't imagine 2 being enough, 3 might work. Peter.
