Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 27Aug 16, 2009 3:39 pm We have one in our ensuite & one in the main bathroom. We only had a small space in the ensuite so have a norrow one in there: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As you can see we fold the towel in half, but it dries them really well. DH showers twice a day & we hated having damp towels all the time. I've noticed that I have to wash the towels less often as well as they are fully drying out after each use. We have ours hard wired & on a timer comimg on for 3 hours each morning & then again in the evening. IMHO it's money well spent Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 28Aug 16, 2009 3:59 pm Hi JoK, Yours looks like an 8 bar one, is that correct? Would you mind telling me the brand and price range yours was? There seems to be such a wide range of brands available, with wildly varying prices. I have no idea if a $150 rail is as good as a $700 one, for instance. I know you get what you pay for, but what is the difference ? - does the $150 not dry as well as the $700 one, or will it break down sooner, or what? A lot of people on here bought them off Gray's Online, but there are none on there at the moment, except a "pick up in Vic" one, which doesn't help me. It's all very confusing, at least to me MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 29Aug 16, 2009 4:13 pm MagicJ Hi JoK, Yours looks like an 8 bar one, is that correct? Would you mind telling me the brand and price range yours was? We got ours from Reece plumbing, the brand was milan & I think it was around $600 or $700. Reece seem to stock quite a few different brands so I'm sure they could explain the differences...I can only say that we are really happy with the Milan, but someone else might be just as happy with a cheaper one ....so much fun making all these decisions isn't it http://www.reece.com.au/bathrooms/produ ... ails/milan Oh, forgot to add that it has 7 bars/rails!! Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 30Aug 16, 2009 6:09 pm The Omega ones I was looking at cost almost $400 retail, and I saw others priced around $600-700. I got mine for about $120 from Grays... you just have to keep looking, they come and go. I find they're plenty hot enough, and we fit two or three towels and a bathmat on our large one, in a similar way to JoK's. Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 31Aug 16, 2009 6:19 pm Thanks so much, JoK and Kek.....that's exactly the sort of info I need to know!! We have been looking at Radiant Oxford heated towel rails - they have a ten bar one for around $490. Will try to post link (not very good at that stuff....) http://www.vervedistribution.com.au/hea ... he-oxford# MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 32Aug 16, 2009 10:01 pm The 10 bar one in the link looks like it is set up for 3 towels the way it is spaced, which should work well for a towel each & the bathmat in an ensuite scenario. Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 35Aug 21, 2009 10:47 am Ok, have ordered two heated towel rails, one for ensuite and one for kid's bathroom. Decided on the Radiance Waverley 7 bar. http://vervedistribution.com.au/uploade ... 7-6871.jpg Thanks for all your help and input, guys, appreciate it !! Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 36Aug 23, 2009 8:41 am When I lived in London our apartment had one that was very similar to Jo K's style. I would highly recommend them. When it's freezing cold and you step out of a warm shower into the cold air it is beautiful to have a nice warm, dry towel to dry yourself. You will be grateful you did it! 2fk Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 37Aug 23, 2009 1:36 pm I must say I hadn't thought of the heated towel rails for actually drying the towels! I would just want one to be warm for when I get out of the bath or shower. I did give one to my dad for his birthday 2 years ago and I don't think he uses it to DRY the towel either. Cheers all. Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 38Aug 23, 2009 9:18 pm Hope ours pan out OK, since I did such a hard sell to DH - if they don't do the job, I will never hear the end of it!!! Re: Heated Towel Rails - how do you use them? 39Aug 30, 2009 3:25 pm I've been thinking of getting these too. Do they get hard wired into the house electrics and have an on/off switch, or can you get ones that plug into a powerpoint? I can't afford to get a sparky in after I move into the house so probably just want one I can plug in. Some people on this forum have hard-wired ones, but the ones I've ordered are plug in ones. Mind you, you have to have a powerpoint where you want to put it, too, so a bit of fore-thought and planning still required from an electrical point of view!!
