We have a media centre with 2 tuners .... wanting to get an additional 2 tuners for the big fella for his birthday. re-reading what I just wrote, I may be referring to the wrong thing .... we want to be able to record up to 4 channels if we need to ... is 'tuners' the right thing I'm looking for? All i know is that we have 2 of whatever it is ... and we need another 2. Can you point me in the direction of where I can go to get them/? Cheers A Re: Additional tuners in media centre 2Nov 13, 2007 10:56 am Amber,
Tuners is what you need. You will need to do a registry hack to enable the extra tuners to work. The site you need is: www.xpmediacentre.com.au Give the guys there your machine spec's and they will advise on the best tuner for you..ie PCI / PCIe etc and the best brands etc. There is a new PCIe card recently launched that has 4 DVBT tuners on it I think. You may want to look at that also. Re: Additional tuners in media centre 3Nov 13, 2007 10:57 am Thanks Matt,
I knew it was going to be too hard for me without letting John know about it!! Is the registry hack thing going to effect anything else do you think?? Re: Additional tuners in media centre 4Nov 13, 2007 11:00 am Nope the hack just allows you XPMCE to see more tuners than the standard 2... Re: Additional tuners in media centre 5Nov 13, 2007 11:02 am That sounds really nice, I might look at something like this for media centre for me sometime next year.... Unfortunately the poor old fella' had his birthday 2 days after the wedding ... so it's a bit of an I.O.U. He originally told me just to get them for christmas instead but then he decided that he was getting ripped off so he's told me to come good with the I.O.U.!!!! So now I have to buy him an extender AND 2 new tuners. when did it become all about him heavy sigh Re: Additional tuners in media centre 10Dec 05, 2007 4:01 pm I will definitely have a chat with you guys soon when we can catch up about that....
