Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 10Jul 29, 2009 11:58 am Yep, that's me I was up at 4.19am this morning & didn't get back to sleep. It is driving me nuts, but the good thing is I only have 2 more no sleeps to go!!!! I have been doing it off & on throughout the whole build, you know, you get something in your head & it just goes around & around & around...... We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 11Jul 29, 2009 11:59 am I have not chosen a builder yet. D hubby thinks his brother is going to build my 43sq house. He is studying presently to get his builders license and has experience only in renovating. No freaking way!!!!What if something goes wrong, I can't sue my brother in law! Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 12Jul 29, 2009 12:41 pm I was thinking of posting something very similar. I'm surprised how much more stressful it is to build over buying established. I'm sure I'll feel a lot better once finance is through and things are actually happening, but then there's organising the removal of our current house, finding somewhere to stay while they're building... the list is endless... I just keep thinking OMG what did I sign myself up for? Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 13Jul 29, 2009 1:44 pm Yep, I'm a stress head too!! I do try not to think about it and not stress. My partner is so easy going and doesn't stress at all. We haven't even had site start we are only up to the permits and I'm already stressing! But I just get really paranoid about what might happen like that they will start the site works and find something unexpected and cost me lots of money My partner keeps telling me we will be fine and if it does happen its not the end of the world we will find a way to get this house done. So I have been trying to relax myself and take things as they come Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 14Jul 29, 2009 1:57 pm Stressed I'm going nucking futs seriously this is the worst experience right from the beginning. Not one thing has gone right...except for tile selections and upgrade choices. I won't go on I take sleeping pills because apart from being a natural insomniac, my mind keeps going over and over everything It's awful and the worst part is, the slab isn't even down yet Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! We have had a pretty rough ride aswell and house isn't even started. Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 17Jul 29, 2009 5:25 pm My approach has been to buy the land, choose the plan, do the selections* then run away to london till the project is finished. That way I can lay awake thinking about other things. Like planning my next euro trip & the fact that the AUD$ is very strong right now meaning my £ is weaker * I admit i left my wife back in Aus to do the selections on her own, but she did a great job and is now in London with me Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 18Jul 29, 2009 7:17 pm Another natural insomniac who is finding it extra hard right now. But I've had added complications, so I guess it goes with the territory. I do have some sleeping tablets, but haven't used them yet, as it's usually too late by the time I realise I need them! I'll just stick with the heavy-duty painkillers for now. Judie Re: Who else is losing sleep over building their house??? 19Jul 29, 2009 7:23 pm I was awake till 3am on Sunday night thinking about plantation shutters and where to put the furniture in the house. We havent even got our site start date yet and I have the whole place decorated in my head! I confess I've had dreams of house designs/plans. I have spent countless hours on this forum and am bordering on having an addiction. Now I am stressing over what our site costs will be, which we will know in 2 weeks. This will determine how much we have to spend on our wish list. It's the waiting that is killing us, or should I say just me. DP is not fazed at all....why do us women tend to make all of the decisions about this stuff......time for another wine.
