I love that minky colour. . . actually the colour of my first dog (a chihuahua no leass, at about age 6). . . we're going for safe, unadventurous old white, but I may go a bit crazy with some feature walls. . . surely you must be nearly finished and ready to move in by now? Re: Bulkheads over kitchen wall cupboards with 9ft ceiling? 27Jul 26, 2009 7:38 am ![]() ....What colour is the benchtop? It'll be white caesarstone - 'snow'. I was pretty keen on red after seeing it in a couple of magazines, and my wife (who is a bit of a whiz with colours, it turns out, at least in my eyes) came round pretty quickly. We have bored our painters with a hopefully classic 'colour' scheme consisting of whites and warm off whites (inside and out). I was also able to convince her that we needed that gloss red (it's dulux red box) on the front door. Our builder can't get over the fact that we're painting it rather than sealing and showing the beautiful timber. ![]() Re: Bulkheads over kitchen wall cupboards with 9ft ceiling? 28Jul 26, 2009 7:54 am ![]() Wow Tarin! signed, sealed and delivered, we WILL be having bulkheads. . . your kitchen looks amazing! Is there goin to be any difference between the two when finished? Re: Bulkheads over kitchen wall cupboards with 9ft ceiling? 33Aug 05, 2009 8:15 pm We didnt have the choice of 8ft 6 in - our builders standard is 8 ft or you have the option to upgrade to 9ft, which we did. I am a great fan of high ceilings. Had never heard of 8ft 6in before joining this forum, not sure if that shows my ignorance (highly likely ![]() ![]() Re: Bulkheads over kitchen wall cupboards with 9ft ceiling? 34Aug 08, 2009 8:33 pm OMG Tarin I am also in love with your kitchen and insanely jealous.... Your kitchen looks great. Do you know what height your overhead cupboards are and your bulkhead is? cheers. Re: Bulkheads over kitchen wall cupboards with 9ft ceiling? 36Oct 13, 2010 11:22 am ![]() We have 10ft ceilings and are having the same dilemma. I definitely want bulkheads and would be happy to have high cabinets for long-term storage (not necessarily kitchen items). However, I don't want the bulkheads to be huge - some designers are suggesting 60cm with 2.4m cabinets but nobody can show me a picture of what this might look like and I think it might look a little silly. We are now considering 1. dropping our ceiling 30cm then having a 30cm bulkhead and 2.4m cabinets or 2. having a 30cm bulkhead and 2.7m of cabinets, although its coming down to a matter of cost now ... our budget has been well and truly blown!! I have a recent Kitchen and Bathroom Quarterly which has a lovely old house with 3.3m ceilings, maybe check that out. Our ceilings are 12 foot. Our cabinets go to 2700mm. We had a bulkhead "mocked up" and it looked way too big. I suspect on 10 foot ceilings, unless the kitchen is part of a very large room, bulkheads may make it seem a bit overbearing.
