But you really need to read my responses in their full context. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Sea Change (as in... the sea is changing) 16Jul 22, 2009 5:21 pm Well we won't just wake up one day and the tide has come in another 50 kilometres. It will be gradual and we will all make allowances for it by changing the infrastructure bit by bit. As for me, I will live on an island called Emerald, maybe the Emerald Isle... I just hope there's enough room on here for the rest of Melbourne... "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Me and the missus have been looking for a home for her because she thinks my country estate is too down-market and I live there. Also I drop crumbs. And I've been excited at the prospect of her having her own dwelling. You know, peace and quiet for me, not being nagged about crumbs barely detectable by the human eye and so what anyway. Women are queer things. But ... it's all off. Tsunamis, you see. That recent scare from the NZ earthquake has rattled her. But the interesting thing, real-estate agents, is the logic she's employed for not buying another home in a coastal town even one perched high and dry and there's some merit in her usual mad and batty ramblings. You see, if the sea does in fact invade the lower reaches of coastal towns then even those on the hills will have their amenity seriously impaired because the lower roads on which they travel will be impassable. They won't be able to get to the shops. They'll starve. So what we'll see is a massive drop in coastal real-estate prices and a massive rise in hinterland values and indeed in sleepy country towns. Seep, seep, seep. I would imagine your MISSUS is happy at the prospect of her having her own dwelling also. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Sea Change (as in... the sea is changing) 18Jul 22, 2009 8:36 pm themax Paul Neri Slowly but surely, real-estate agents, the rising sea, or perceptions of it at least, is influencing home buyers which, from my perspective is interesting but from yours, catastrophic! You remember when I thought you might be a long lost cousin? I know, I know, it was a confronting time for you. Praying each night: "please God it's not true". Well before I broached the subject with you I thought I'd better do some research on you, you know, make sure you're not a nutter. You do get them, you know, on the Internet. And so I checked out your Blog and your HomeOne posts and was pleased to be satisfied that you, Joles, in my opinion, are not a nutter. And that's where I came across the "missus post". Your home is looking good, Joles. If me and the missus owned it, my room would be the one on the right behind the large brown door. But while we are chatting, I note you had a discussion with Site Management about controversial threads. In line with the family-orientation of the site, I wonder if there'd be merit in the Site establishing a specific discussion board for such threads with an appropriate warning that robust debate could be encountered. Not crude, defamatory, insulting debate, just discussion about fads, taste, that type of thing. But discussion that egg-shell types could find confronting: "wot's wrong wif lava lamps" (I find them fascinating. Not sure I'd have one. Damn things look alive). It could be called "Hells Kitchen" or something. And while those who take offense all too easily would probably not contribute in such a setting, you can bet your bottom dollar the little darlings just couldn't resist a peek (and another and another). Probably become the most popular part of the site? Joles: "Why don't you raise it.Why are you suggesting I do it?". You have more clout than I do.
