Things we have found useful are: 1: make the mirrored cab deep enough to hold all the electrical bits. put a power point in the cabinets so you can plug them all in. and make sure you have a slot cut out in the bottom of the cabinet so that when the appliance is in use (shaver, hair dryer) then the mirrored door can be closed and you can see what you are doing!! This solution is good for electric toothbrushes too. 2: Put a plug in the vanity in a cupboard. Have a hook near the inside of the door and hang the hairdryer from this. That way its handy to get at and use. 3: We have gon as far as making a hole in the vanity shelf to house the hairdryer. this is simple and effective and is great for decluttering. Have fun!! Thanks so much for your tips SB!!! Re: Where do you ladies keep your hair dryer? 12Jul 21, 2009 4:15 pm netadelle I don't even get to shower alone. My 2 year old freaks if he can't see me, so the bathroom door stays open. Sooner rather than later he'll be freaking because he's seen you naked! My cat is like that too and somehow that's slightly more creepy than being watched by a people Re: Where do you ladies keep your hair dryer? 13Jul 22, 2009 8:51 pm netadelle I don't own a hairdryer. I don't have time to swan around drying my hair. Did anyone else laugh right out loud at this? My "swanning" consists of a mad 5 minutes a couple of times a week fighting a losing battle with something that is essentially keratin and air! I keep my hairdryer in the vanity. Unfortunately the loop on the hairdryer has broken so I can't hang it up, but I will when I buy a new one. I have it plugged into a powerpoint inside the vanity so all I need to do is uncoil it and dry away. 2fk Re: Where do you ladies keep your hair dryer? 14Jul 23, 2009 8:45 pm Mine lives in a drawer in the vanity. My brushes and combs and so on live in a shallow basket next to it. It's MY drawer and my husband better not dare put any of his crap in it..... We have a double power point either side of the vanity mirror, so no dramas with plugging it in. I'd hate to have it anywhere permanently in sight. I'm obsessively tidy, what can I say? The kettle has to face the right way. The teatowel hangs on a rail inside the pantry - which must remain closed. And don't dare leave the ironing board up... Re: Where do you ladies keep your hair dryer? 15Jul 26, 2009 1:58 am I'm a bit of a visual person, can someone please post a picture of their hair dryer hanging on a hook in the vanity and how it works with it being permanently plugged in. So we put in a loop on the side of the vanity cabinet (don't know how to describe it - a metal loop, like you affix round guttering to a house). I then put the nossle of the hair dryer into that to hold it there in place. Cord then hangs, but tucks away. You see a similar thing in hair salons to hang the hair dryers up & it doesn't matter if your hair dryer has one of the tiny loops or not. This house - no room for that... but I have heaps of storage - so have my own drawer for it. That works perfectly too. Re: Where do you ladies keep your hair dryer? 17Aug 02, 2009 7:12 pm Helyn I had a friend who even did this with her kettle but havent come across anyone else who does this - perhaps she didnt drink much coffee I keep my kettle in the cupboard too! Re: Where do you ladies keep your hair dryer? 18Aug 02, 2009 7:41 pm Toaster and kettle always plugged in on the kitchen bench. Hairdryer always in the bathroom under the sink cabinet. (I loose too much hair to use it any other room other than one with tiles - easy to clean) In the new house the hairdryer will be left on the ensuite bench, as we are only have one basin and lots of bench space. Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
