They are suitable for ground floor but present a problem with flyscreens as they cannot be integrated without destroying the look of the window. They are less suitable for 1st floor as the windows need to have restricted opening. The mechanism is very impressive with an inward opening hopper when the handle is at 12 o'clock and an inward opening casement when the handle is at 3 o'clock. My parents used to have them in their old house, I had a big on on my bedroom window (on the first floor). . . didn't need flyscreens (mozzies were pretty much non-existent up in the north). Maybe regulations were different back then, but as a kid I was able to sit sideways on the frame with the window fully open. . . could've fit a sofa through the window! Ed Don't the flyscreens attach to the outside frame? Does that destroy the look in your view? What does restrictive opening mean?, I thought tilt & turn would be great for the 1st floor as they open in to allow cleaning from the inside Re: Tilt & Turn Windows 6Jul 17, 2009 11:42 pm mikemix ed @ EcoClassic We have one in our showroom (make that old showroom as we are moving as we speak).
