Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Jul 13, 2009 7:59 pm Hi all, The beloved and I have just bought a house in Greensborough and for the most part it's great, but the bathroom hasn't got a bath and we've got 1&1/2 kids. So we're planning to DIY a japanese bathroom in the current space (2.6 x 2.4) with a wall dividing it into 2, 1.3x2.4 areas, one wet and one dry. A deep polyester tub from http://www.japanesebath.com.au and a sit down shower in the wet half. Toilet and vanity in the dry half. As the toilet is the only one for the house the beloved would like it available when the shower/bath is in use so we need a completely obscure door for a shower screen. The current drawing has the door as a cavity door sliding into the dividing wall. Has anyone tried this? I realise I'll have to install a drip tray to drain any water in the cavity back to the wet area. Should I use an obscure glass door on a track (something like a hafelle architectural fitting) or could I modify a standard cavity door to be waterproof with white acrylic and some timber slats to resemble a shoji screen. I want it to look good but don't want to double my mortgage repayments by getting $1000 fittings everywhere. Any thoughts anyone? Christian Re: Cavity door for a shower screen? 2Jul 14, 2009 9:33 pm It's a great idea but I would be a bit concerned about mould etc build up inside the cavity area?
