I wouldn't restrict bench space on the off chance that a table will fit in there. What is the distance from the bench as shown to the window? It doesn't look that big to me, especially when you take into account the need to walk comfortably around it. Bam In regards to the kitchen bench and table, I hate to say it but unless you are doing your kitchen after you buy your dining table then you cant really wait til you have moved in to decide. not many cabinet makers will come out and 'add' bits to an existing kitchen, and if they do you will pay a pretty penny for it. You need to decide this before. Go and look at dining tables the you fancy and get their measurements and see if it would comfortably fit in the space you have (allowing room to sit and walk around the table to serve food whilst people are sitting). Otherwise, you may end up regretting not doing the research beforehand.... iTalk I didn't mean placing the dining table between the island and the wall. It's impossible now . . . The initial space was 2000mm between the island and the wall. I think we were concerned that the space as shown originally wasn't big enough for a table. Checking our dining room with a storage unit temporarily stored in it, a rectangular table does indeed fit but we are always shuffling chairs when someone needs to come or go. NatB I also dont think I would use the living area that much, so I'd probably scrap it and extand the study a little. If you post any more plans it would be useful to leave those dimensions on the outside so we can see them. Looking again with a better feel for the sizes of the rooms I too wondered about the study. It looks narrow. I suppose it depends on what you use the study for? Yak_Chat Wheres north to get the right warmth where you need it? I'm wondering too? Checking our dining room with a storage unit temporarily stored in it, a rectangular table does indeed fit but we are always shuffling chairs when someone needs to come or go. We were thinking of having an L shape kitchen island initially. This will create a 2300mm space between the island and the wall. Then we thought that an L shape islan is more of an old fashion so we decided otherwise. Now the question is, what's the minimum width of a dining table that we could fit in between the wall and the islan, considering that the space is 2000mm. Quote: I suppose it depends on what you use the study for? After the modifications (widening the laundry, and pushing the garage downward, the study room will be 2700 in wide, that's 200mm wider). You asked for the initial plan, here it is http://img.skitch.com/20090625-rugga1ny ... 69yxs7.jpg Yak_Chat Wheres north to get the right warmth where you need it? I was wondering about the windows highlighted, aren't they a bit too high ? Oh well, not much you can do about that. 2700 isn't as big as I'd like. But as I say depends how you'll use the room. Not sure what you mean about high windows. Hi Bam, Thanks Yeah, we'll be having a mirror in the ensuite. The window will be something similar to this image P.S. I haven't found the Facebook group you told me about yet. I just found someone who's employed in that company Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Final floorplan suggestions and feedback 37Jul 07, 2009 4:42 pm The WIR still looks tiny I have to admit... L shape kitchens are a pain - the corner cupboards are always awful.. and no, an island bench that goes to the end of the wall will look awesome, not UGLY!!! Its called a galley kitchen.. And if you do prefer the L kitchen, why not have the sink on the other side? Where is the dining room???? Couches and lounges will take up most of that back area. Are those shelves in that study entrance?? Study looks unproportioned and small compared to other rooms.. We have a lounge/theatre setup similar, rooms are more proportioned I think.. Porch looks tiny too.. Odd for a STUDY to have double doors, and a master bedroom with a single door.. Is there a fireplace in the front lounge room? Why the two windows? A big picture window would look much better!! I dont particularly like some of the plan, but its not my house is it?? Thats just my opinion.. Re: Final floorplan suggestions and feedback 39Jul 07, 2009 5:02 pm Salt&Pepper, Thanks for the fantastic feedback. I almost fell off my chair when I read it We're not really big fan of islands that go all the way to the wall. We would've done it, but never been fan of them The kitchen is meant to be similar to the one shown the following image. The dining table will be located along the kitchen window. We need to push the window slightly away from the cupboards. This is something I will be discussing with the builder. Looking at our new couches and the area, I see that it's going to be fine. Width of the family area is 6500mm and the length is 5000mm. We couldn't do much about the study, it's 2700mm in width and that was the maximum we could go for It's long but we could put two bookshelves if we want. The computer desk will be facing the doors. And the reason for us not to put double doors in the MBR is because we're planning to put a TV on the wall opposite to the bed. We couldn't afford paying for the fireplace, otherwise it'd have looked perfect. We'll be placing a large portrait instead. We love our floorplan Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Final floorplan suggestions and feedback 40Jul 07, 2009 5:11 pm Bam corner cupbaords are great if built right We'll see how it goes with the cupboard makers.
