Hi No Way.
We're in stage 12a and the engineering drawings indicate we have less than 200mm of fill on average on our block and it is virtually flat 90mm from the back to the front of the block.
So i'm not expecting a big bill for site costs.

We are also building right near the back of the estate (about 5 or 6 houses from the edge). I was wondering whether anyone is building with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda and going for optic fibre? We have a quote from Techlife (the company installing the optic fibre network in Alamanda) and Argus Technologies (Carlisle contractors) to install phone, data, TV and home theatre wiring.. The Argus quote was a lot more than Techlife (almost 1.5x). However Carlisle will not allow Techlofe on site during building due to "induction processes" Does anyone else have the same problem? I am going to speak to my CLE more about it. Hopefully if enough people put pressure on they will allow Techlife on site. Carlisle is one of the only builders who has a problem with Techlife coming on site. Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! Ours doesn't so we had to go through our builder to get the fibre optics done. We paid a lot more too, it's a shame we don't get the choice of getting it done for cheaper.. I hope Carlisle lets you do it and you can save some $$$ [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 69Jun 26, 2009 10:24 am When i started building last year, I had to use my own contractor to do the wiring because the builder didn't border to do it (I think they now use Argus as well) But on the other side, since i had my own contractor to do work and supplied my own wiring, those items are not covered by the builder's insurance, you have to either insure yourself or wish yourself luck that those didn't get stolen/damaged... i actually prefer the builder to do everything for me, just for a piece of mind Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 70Jun 28, 2009 11:23 pm Thanks MissAlison for the info. It's great news! Sarahq - we have a quote from Argus too but not from Techlife. It's so annoying that we have to pay so much more to get the same stuff, isn't it??? Let us know how you go! I only bought 2 weeks ago! Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 73Jul 07, 2009 10:34 pm Alamanda is selling like hotcakes, I brought in stage 12a which is over 3/4 sold and only released in mid May. Looking forward to seeing the completed sports precinct. Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 74Jul 07, 2009 10:46 pm I got my land on resale in March and now the same size block is $30k more!! I think mine is actually in a better position too (slightly further away from the school down the back near the wetlands) I brought up a little earlier than I expected to but it definitely saved me a lot of money! By the way, for all people having trouble getting their builders to allow Techlife on site (particularly with Carlisle Homes) - My partner spoke to BACV (Building Advice Concilliation Victoria) who pointed us out a few sections of the Domestic Building Code and Fair Trading Acts that say the builder can't restrict site access to contractors, but they are not liable for any delays. I have emailed our CLE mentioning these few points. Hopefully they allow Techlife on site now! They are much cheaper than the builders ccontractors... If anyone wants to see the actual sections pointed out, just PM me. Cheers, Sarah Building Monaco32 with Carlisle Homes in Alamanda Estate 20/08/2010 - HANDOVER 24/8!! They said they will ask Opticomm to follow up however its been more than a week and no one care at all, i rang around (Techlife & Alamanda office) a few times and they just asked me the same question over and over again "What is your issue? oh yes i will call you back once i speak to Opticomm". And they never call back..... So I spent the money, calling around a few days like a freak and still have nothing.. The Opticomm number on the Alamanda website is wrong, its Techlife number.. try to search in Yahoo and get another number then call, the operator said that they don't know anything about Alamanda, oh well.. great.. Yesterday, my husband finally had enough and called Alamanda Estate Manager again, he demaned this issue in writing and will take up to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman. Now the estate manager said that he will escalate to Opticomm and asked them to contact us. Shouldn't he has escalated it last week already? Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 77Jul 09, 2009 9:39 am Just some updates Finally, we have got a call back from Opticomm, their site supervious has inspected the site this morning and advised that they will get it fixed by this week, this is after many many phone calls, and my DH even wrote a complaint letter and threaten to take it to the communication ombudsman We were told by Alamanda that Stage1 and 2 have fibre connected to both sides and that’s why they never run into this problem But from stage3, only one side is connected because setting up for both sides is just too expensive… Well, they really know how/where to cut cost .. but clearly they didn’t tell their people about it and even their technician and that’s why I have been connected to the side that has no fibre (and i am the lucky first connection in stage3)… I hope they keep their promise and fix it by this week otherwise i will be calling and calling again and again… i am really running out of patient Now I need to submit the form to Internode, as they advised it may take up to 2 days to process the application, so it is better to submit it now and get ready once the fibre is fixed… finger cross Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 78Jul 10, 2009 3:07 am Hi Claego, how much have you paid for the body corp fee? When I bought the stage 10 about 2 months before, Joel told me it will be 900 bucks a year. And I just found out from the newly released stage 11 document, it says around 990 bucks, please refer to the contract of sales. I checked my contract of sales, and could not find the exact amount, so a bit confused. What about yours? Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 79Jul 10, 2009 4:43 am Hi All Just come across this site. Wish I'd found it earlier. Looks great so far. I have a block in stage 6 and am looking at builders at present. I live in WA and I will be coming over to look and to sign up a house in the next few weeks. I will have 4 days to find a house / builder I like so would like to hear any recommendations good or bad about builders from the display village. Looking to spend approx 150k base up to 215k turn key. Looking at 4 x 2 double garage. I signed up for the block in Feb 2008 and just settled a few weeks ago. Prices have gone up 30k since signing up Regards Regrow Re: Alamanda Estate - Owners Forum 80Jul 10, 2009 9:50 am Claego are you able to post some photos of the internals of your starserve box? I'm curious to see the configuration.
