Mernda Villages 611Jun 24, 2009 11:28 am Must be european (Im allowed to say that, I am one!) If it was up to George he'd concrete the whole front so he can fit more cars. He's already talking about concreting the only patch we have for grass Lazy bugger. Doesnt want to mow. You know that reddish gravel the PD sandhurst display has? Anyone know what it is? I want it around the side of my house! Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Our Crazy Owner Builder Journey! Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda Villages 612Jun 24, 2009 11:32 am Bam Must be european (Im allowed to say that, I am one!) There is a house near where we used to live that concreted the entire outside space around the house. There wasn't one plant or blade of grass just a clothesline sticking out of the concrete Shock horror, we are having turf in our front! Gotta have some grass! I don't think there will be alot of it but it will still be nice to have some Happy at Home Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda Villages 613Jun 24, 2009 12:19 pm Sounds like all my relatives places! I cant wait to see your front yard! What is the set back? Ive been checking up on your progress elsewhere because you havent been on H1 much But you have to promise to follow my thread or whatnot School holidays count down!!!! WOOHOOO (for me, for mums? lol) I have one week off where I can do whatever I like, oh the joy.... I think they had Tuscan toppings (also called sunset toppings) around the Sandhurst, Bam....not really sure. It's not exactly red, but it has a yellowy-orange tinge to it. Was it the fine one that packs down pretty hard? Looks like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm sure they didn't use scoria, which is the only really red gravel I can think of. It's very coarse though, and a very dark red: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have sunset toppings down the side of our house, and also for the front paths. George and I loved it so much I took a photo of it Now Ill label it with its name so I know for future reference Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Mernda Villages 617Jun 25, 2009 8:49 pm Aumann's sell sunset toppings - other places might call it something else, but it's the same thing. Lilydale toppings is similar, but lighter, more grey. The sunset toppings is about $50-odd a cubic metre, so pretty cheap for paths. Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Mernda Villages 618Jun 26, 2009 10:24 am Thanks kek! I like when things are cheap It looks great in your photos, I like the reddish-yellow-orange colour. Not a fan of grey so this is a better option for us. Im going to Aumanns on Monday so Ill check it out and see what else they have too Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! WOOHOOO (for me, for mums? lol) I have one week off where I can do whatever I like, oh the joy.... My BIL is half Italian, he said his next house will be all artificial turf I guess that is better than concrete Our setback is 6.5m and our block is 20m wide. We have the path/driveway all around the front of the house. We got to choose 2 trees and 30 plants plus mulch, pebbles, turf etc. They are going to need a fair bit of soil to build it up to the path height. I'm glad we waited to have our side fencing and gates installed after concreting as the gates sit higher which I like Landscaper is coming out next Wednesday to go through my design, I'm interested to see what he says I love school holidays, always have and always will. Love the change of pace and doing things with the kids. They love it too, I can see some PJ day's locked in the HT DH and I watched Quantum of Solace last night then Bad Boys II.......I'm sure entirely sure how Bad Boys got on (DH loves it) it was midnight by the time I got to bed. Hope you enjoy your week off Grace16 Absolutely! The DS's can feed the ducks, Hot Choc. for you, Coffee for me and cake all round! It's a date Kek, just wondering if you put some timber around the perimeter of your c/b fencing? Guy told me a few weeks ago when he came to measure up for the gates that the warranty is void if any soil or stones sit up against it. He recommended we lay a piece of timber in front of it or some expansion foam to form a barrier. Yesterday I finally went out and bought a clothesline. I went directly to Daytek in Preston, they make all their products there at the factory and sell direct to the public. http://www.daytek.com.au/ Example of savings - $160 for their 52m Rotary, $241 in B*nnings, $150 for the 42m $202 in B*nnings. Fold down single (10 lines) is only $65 and the fold down twin (which still only has 10 lines but split between two frames) is $90 CHEAP! I bought a 52m Rotary for the backyard and a twin fold down for the dead side of the house. I have prices for all their clotheslines so if there is another one you need just ask. They also sell wheelbarrows too I've just ordered our glass fencing for the Alfresco, I'm really looking forward to seeing this go in. A blog I've followed forever in Brisbane has just had the same installed at their new house and it looks great. On a sadder note.........quite sad this morning about the death of Michael Jackson Regardless of how he was as a person, father, husband etc he was a fantastic performer. I went to one of his Concerts in Brisbane a long time ago and he was the ultimate performer. Thriller will always be my favourite dance, my best friend Nicola and I perfected that when we were about 12 years old Last Friday night my eldest DD had her CPCA performance at the National Theatre in St Kilda, one of the classes did Thriller complete with zombie costumes etc, the boy playing MJ was fantastic, the crowd roared when he did the moonwalk. I hope that his three children can move onto a bit of a normal life now. Farrah lost her battle too, that poor woman went through so much, probably a good thing that her battle with Cancer has ended Happy at Home Re: Ladies and Gents, step right up! Yup, we knew that - the metal can rust if it's in contact with soil, so we have timber edging along the fenceline. House-To-Be Yesterday I finally went out and bought a clothesline. I went directly to Daytek in Preston, they make all their products there at the factory and sell direct to the public. Luckily, we have a friend who works for Hills, so our clothesline was a steal.
