Browse Forums Lighting + Lighting Design Re: Lighting assistance for racked ceiling 3Jun 12, 2009 10:36 am Yak_Chat Depends on how much light you like. But IMO -- I'd say that is heaps. I have 4.5 metre racked ceilings and with 2 x pendants with upright facing 3x 11w CFL - no shades as I'm going to replace them with new fittings soon - but it's pretty damn bright when they are all on as is Mine are 1700mm from the floor to the base of the CFL - at the point where the ceilings are 2800mm from the floor with good reflection off the ceiling and walls. The trick with raked ceilings and CFL's it to use as much of the reflected light as possible. Thanks for getting back to me with your setup. Just a couple of other questions. You say you have 2 lights, are they both at the same height across the room or in a line 'up' the ceiling? What is the room size that you have them in? I assume that it is better to have the lights facing 'up' to the ceiling and reflecting the light rather than having the 2 lights in a line up the ceiling at the same height from the floor? Re: Lighting assistance for racked ceiling 4Jun 24, 2009 9:40 pm The lights are in a line along the room at the same height. With some individual wall lights at one end that I use as softer lighting when I don't want to be blinded Room is 16m long x 4.5m wide.
