Hi Everyone
Has anyone had anything to do with frameless glass folding doors?
I've got this penchant for commercial style glass work that drives the wife to total distraction but its a major part of our renovation style for our place.
As I'm no lover of wood or aluminium framing around bi-fold style doors because they cause way too much visual distraction i want to go with frameless glass folding doors.
I have found a system that was on display at the last homeshow that was on in here in Perth. It used very thin clear plastic stripping between the glass, that was less than one cm wide, so as to reduce the visual distraction. It was great to discover that the technology to do what I want actually exists but the salesman at the display didnt seem to know of too many drawbacks with what they had. He had also quoted a ball park figure of approx 2000 dollars per metre.
1. Is this style of door more common than I realize?
2. Is the 2k per metre a legit figure? Or cheap? Or expensive?
3. What are the pitfalls or downfalls of these doors? are there any or are there many?
This is going to be a 3 metre doorway in a 7 meter wall so as to leave a 4 metre wall left to hang the TV screen off.
The whole idea of this is to try to bring the outdoors inside and vice versa regardless of if the doors are open or closed so visually the whole place looks bigger.
Any advice or opinions would be gratefully accepted.
cheers ******* Roger
