She showed me the marks on her walls and skirts etc from her hose. JL Thanks for that, I will enquire tomorrow. Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 93May 28, 2009 10:46 pm gettingThere I've just been quoted $1,650 (inc gst) for: EVS3505 vacuum unit (2hp Commercial grade motor with 2 year warranty) installed in the garage. 9 metre hose, chrome extendable wand, carpeVtile tool, dusting brush, crevice and upholstery tools. 5 inlet points enabling all parts of the home to be vacuumed. Machine now comes standard with a washable filter. Complementary hose hanger to keep hose and tools neatly stored away (big deal! ) an inlet located on the machine in the carport $195.00 extra for VacuSweep (same as vacpan) in the kitchen Does this sound pretty standard? Has anyone got the EVS3505 vacuum unit? Is it very noisy?? Hey gT, we are looking at the same vacuum unit as you, by the sounds of it from the same shop too. We went in today to look at it (and importantly listen to it) and it was surprisingly quiet even when the unit was turned on right next to us. When the unit out the back was switched on it was barely noticeable. We are looking at getting the hose with the on/off switch as well for an extra $100. Sounds reasonable so far we think? Has anyone got the EVS3505 vacuum unit? Is it very noisy?? We got some info about this system but in the end we went with Smartvac because of these things they sent me in an email: Smartvac use a patented Gortex self cleaning filter that’s rated at a ten year life. Self cleaning filters have been around for about 8 years and these are able to maintain air flow without “washing” units that require cleaning performance tends deteriorates as you use it. Smartvac has 7-1/2 year warranty They also mentioned that some brands don’t come with mufflers and thought the EVS machines were one of them, theirs do have mufflers and are much quieter. by the way their dustpans thingys are $180 installed Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 95May 28, 2009 11:09 pm We got ours through Masterton (Sentinel) and ours was $2200 for 2000HP, vac pan + 5 outlets and 1 at the motor (standard), I also got all the extra heads, sock, switched hose and caddy. Can't comment on comparable noise... we tried it at the Home Ideas Centre and while it was reasonably loud (similar to a normal vacuum cleaner) it will be located in the garage so don't know how it will sound while in the house! Thanks though for everyone's posts as at least I knew what to ask for! Well, if it's 2000HP (horsepower?), I think the garage is the right place to keep it. It'll still be very noisy if you rev it... (I think you mean 2000 watts ) Cheers zeke Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 97May 29, 2009 8:36 am I'm obviously not up with all the technical lingo... Ha ha.....not to worry, MrsRose. The concept of having a 2000HP vacuum cleaner in the garage gave us a big smile and that's a good thing. Also can I get socks for my children so they don't make marks on the wall.
