Browse Forums Building A New House Re: dennis family homes 43May 21, 2009 5:38 pm Well thanks Joles After reading your response to what I had written I took your advise and called DFH, fortunately for me the lady I normally speak to was out to lunch so I spoke to a man who seemed very concerned about what was happening with us (maybe he was the boss) he took my number and gave me his mobile number and told me he would be in touch this afternoon when he had some news. Well an hour later he apologized on behalf of DFH and said he has been promised that our contracts will be in Ballarat next Wed and we should have them by Friday of next week. Fingers crossed anyways. Many Thanks for your comments if I hadn't of read that I may not of got the outcome that I have Maybe next week I'll be able to write something a little more positive like we have a contract and a start date. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19655 FINALLY slab down 5th SEPT Oct 16 Bricking/ plaster starting Dec 1 Painting started END OF CONTRACT IS UP SOON HURRY UP AND FINISH MY HOME..... countdown to 27th Feb. LATROBE 320 WITH DENNIS FAMILY HOMES Re: dennis family homes 47May 26, 2009 1:42 pm Hi there, so glad I have found this forum! We are currently waiting for our contract to come back with DFH as well. Paid first deposit 14 feb and have been given a date of 16 june for contract to be back. We were told the delay is also due to them being really busy with first home buyers. They have been great about it though and have told us our building time will be shortened by 4 weeks to cover the extra time taken with the contract. It is very frustrating waiting through this part, all I want is to see something actually happening! Re: dennis family homes 48May 27, 2009 2:17 pm Just received our contract in the mail from DFH and excited to say that the contract price is only $3,000 more than the original quote!!!!!! Having said that there are still some issues to iron out which will hopefully bring the price down to the original quote but so far so good. Building with Dennis Family Homes - Hartley 280 Location: Settlers Run, Botanic Ridge Re: dennis family homes 49May 27, 2009 5:46 pm DFH emailed me a copy of our contract today and have said I'll have it in my hands hopefully Friday. at least I have an idea now on the cost. our site cost went from the initial quote of $11000 to $16087. so I was a bit freaked out to say the least. What can you do. As we upgraded and added a few things like entertainer doors and alfesco the cost has increased by $33000 whoopsee daisy but that is including the site cost. We are JUST on budget. Sadly I may have to reconsider my tile choice of porcelain throughout entry meals family kitchen as it will well and truly blow us out. It's an extra laying cost and tile cost, also DFH won't cover any damages for Porcelain so we would have to get insurance etc. Does anyone know of a nice shiny ceramic tile in a light grayish tone? Going to Geelong and Hoppers Crossing on Tuesday for a look. We upgraded the ceaserstone from the standard builders range to the colour nova aurora I am so amazed that this upgrade cost an extra $1278 think this is a bit pricey for a colour change And the Kitchen cupboards cost an extra $850 just because we wanted a gloss finish. Over all we are quite suprised as to how much these changes are. But maybe that's what things cost these days. JUST SO GLAD WE HAVE SOMETHING now we can move forward.... yeahhhhhhh https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19655 FINALLY slab down 5th SEPT Oct 16 Bricking/ plaster starting Dec 1 Painting started END OF CONTRACT IS UP SOON HURRY UP AND FINISH MY HOME..... countdown to 27th Feb. Far out this is so crazy DFH are incredibly disorganized. My Mum is also building with DFH and signed the same time as us, they hopefully will start hers in 3 weeks. Apparently!! It's crazy to think that when Mum bought her land she was the first to buy in that subdivision back in Jan 09, then 2 other people bought in March and have started building frames nearly up should have gone with "M" H People said building was stressful but Man we haven't even began yet and I'm about to flip a lid lol https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19655 FINALLY slab down 5th SEPT Oct 16 Bricking/ plaster starting Dec 1 Painting started END OF CONTRACT IS UP SOON HURRY UP AND FINISH MY HOME..... countdown to 27th Feb. LATROBE 320 WITH DENNIS FAMILY HOMES Re: dennis family homes 52Jan 10, 2010 12:09 pm hi to all, i am actually waiting on a estimate from dennis family homes.. i am just scared because my block has a fall.. witch means excavations and also retaining walls needed. does anyway know how much people charge for retaining walls? Re: dennis family homes 53Feb 26, 2010 12:01 am We are building with DFH our original deposit was on the 28th august 2008 we are in the country so had to put a planning permit in with our council which took far longer than we were expecting so we didnt get to sign up until end of June 2009, we didnt get our contract until the 12th of november 2009. When we finally got the contract our house was sited wrong it was almost into next doors block and we are on 5.5 acres so how that happened we dont know but it did... as well as having site excavation fee of 1800 dollars(our block is as flat as a tack as we got our site cut done first) we also had peirs to every part of our slab which was another 8700 dollars which was because of the wrong siteing... Well the site supervisor and the area manager came to inspect the block admited that the plans were wrong and said they would endeavour to fix them phone call after phone call we finally got some updated plans on the 3rd feb 2010 but alas still things were wrong and not fixed.. after asking for a colour appointment nurmerous times we got one for the 11th feb the colour girl was fantastic the best ever.. I asked to have my variations done by the 11th so i knew what i could spend on extras for the colour appointment we went into the office and got some variations but not all of them they then told us that by that night or the next day we would have our plans adjusted and the rest of our variations done . we were told we were going to build in Feb it is now two weeks later and no variations i have phoned and to keep me happy they sent the adjusted plans well guess what they still have not fixed everything ... The area manager wont return my calls she makes our sales consultant do it all he is fabulous i feel sorry for him having to make excuses for the company .. i have blown up over the phone now they are saying i will have them by tuesday next week if i havnt then first thing Wednesday morning i will be phoneing head office to speak to someone higher .. WOW so long winded i just wish i had a good run like some people get although i guess someone has to get the bad one heheh Soots viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31037 harvard 27 DFH signed contract 16th March 2010 slab down 1st June 2010 frame started 8th June 2010 trusses and frame finished 24th June 2010 tiles almost done 14th July 2010 Bricks started 14th July 2010 Plaster started 28th July 2010 Paint 25th August 2010 Re: dennis family homes 55May 20, 2010 6:39 pm fucando I am curious to know who you guys meet with to sign the contracts. Do you go to the office or do they come to you and do you get to keep the contract at that time. Cheers, fucando Hi Fucando you go to the display homes and talk to one of the sales consultants there they organise your contract and you will need to go back to sign all paperwork hope this helps Soots viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31037 harvard 27 DFH signed contract 16th March 2010 slab down 1st June 2010 frame started 8th June 2010 trusses and frame finished 24th June 2010 tiles almost done 14th July 2010 Bricks started 14th July 2010 Plaster started 28th July 2010 Paint 25th August 2010 Re: dennis family homes 56Aug 31, 2010 10:05 pm Hi everyone I am building with DFH in Doreen Pretty good building procces but slow paper work procces Paid deposit in January and it didn't go to site until June. Sales consultants don't have that much knowledge especially when it comes to prices. Very poor knowledge in construction... Overall DFH quality is good. Nothing like a generation though me and my partner upgraded almost everything in it and out of it to.... In the end we should of built something from aspiration series. but i love for a first house!!!! The house is on its way. apparently the kitchen is booked for the 16th of this month so hopefully few more weeks after that i should get the house! you would think so anyway because after kitchen not many trades to go because we got no floor coverings.... But its dennis we talking about the take for ever to do everything!!!! Re: dennis family homes 59Feb 20, 2011 11:13 am we have purchased land in Leopold in Geelong and are looking at the waterford or the albany with DFH. we are really unsure of the process and what is and ISNT included. we have e mailed them requesting a walk through, i guess we take it from there! how hard can you negotiate on what is included on the price? how much of the fitout would they let you complete yourself? (my brother is a chippy and we would like him to do our floors) the quote from the plan is 176,400 how realistic is this? any info would be appreciated cheers Re: dennis family homes 60Mar 06, 2011 7:59 am Hi We have been looking at a few builders and came across Dennis yeaterday, had a good chat with the sales member @ Epping (very helpful). The house we are looking at is the Hartley 321 (or 341), we received the price of 214k for the 321, and we were priced up on a few other things we knew we wanted throughout the house.. My question is, 'the prices, are they GST inclusive or exclusive?' Also reading the 'product review' - http://www.productreview.com.au/p/dennis-family.html, I know this is where most come to complain about a product rather than positive talk, however we picked up on a few points by reading the negative comments. For everyone building with DFH what is the time you receive your contracts from initial 1k deposit? Do they impose penalties for going over build time & are they recognised when over build time? from the experiences of everyone are there any questions I should ask the sales rep?
