Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 18, 2009 9:51 pm Hi there, first time post I have been display home hunting for the past 3 weeks now, and after a single story home with some 'wow' factor. So far one which has stood out is the Broadway Homes "Bacall" which has some good features. My problem is I have heard previously of people experiencing alot of heartache with this company, and im wondering if anyone here can give me honest opinions or experience with them? I dont plan to change the plan of the house considerably, but to make it bigger to utilize the bigger block that I have. my budget is around 340k. Other homes that I have seen and liked so far are the Webb & Brown "Cove" - albiet somewhat out of the budget and the APG "Asheville". cheers for any help. Re: Broadway Homes Perth 2May 18, 2009 10:20 pm hi... i have heard several mentioning not to build with Broadway Homes... similar complaints where things turn sour after contract signing having said so, i must admit that their displays are very nice indeed... But display houses can be very misleading... Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: Broadway Homes Perth 3May 18, 2009 10:20 pm Hi waxdass, I'm not much help with any info on Broadway homes but I do love that floorplan. It catches my eye in the new homes section every week! I think you will hear good and bad things about all of the project builders. Where are you planning on building? Sonya Re: Broadway Homes Perth 4May 18, 2009 11:03 pm Personally I think you can get more 'bang for your buck' with one of the single-storey orientated builders. If you like the feature ceilings to living and alfresco - you could build the Dale Alcock Nautilus for about $300k all told, and the Lifestyle Homes Boardwalk for about the same... That leaves 40k for all the feature/spec upgrades you could ever want (I assume this is what you are after by looking at APG and W&BN) Must say I am not a big fan of the Broadway design due to the side alfresco - nice in theory (if you are on a corner block) else horrible - I have this at the moment on a 17m frontage and the lack of privacy is annoying and hence why I am building again. P.S. APG have a new single storey display on Aldenham Drive in Southern River which would fit your budget and looks veryvery nice - only opened last weekend. I'm really after the raked ceiling design and dedicated theatre room. The side aflresco suits me because of my block orientation (not a corner block). I would prefer to go with a quality builder that will build my house and let me choose a private contractor to do my kitchen/laundry/bathrooms & rendering separately (I have family in each trade). Is this possible without going to a full-on owner builder build? Which company in Perth caters to my needs? I would like to secure a building contract by end of September to get the full 1st owners grant too. thankyou Re: Broadway Homes Perth 6Jun 26, 2009 1:56 pm Hi I am currently building with Broadway Homes. We are building a single storey home with Boradway. Our sales representative is Nick Price. He has kept in touch with throughout the whole process. Even since we signed the contract. In fact we are now at Plate High and the house has moved through the process very smoothly. The price was very competetive and Nick was more than helpful, as was the pre start lady. I have built 4 other homes with different builders and Broadway has been one of the best I have experienced. They contact us every two weeks and update us on the progress of the home and if we have any questions they are quick in answering any queries. I would highly reccomend to Build with Broadway. Nick Price is more than happy to call around to your house to discuss your plans. Even on the weekends which we found to be very helpful as we both work full time and it is often hard to get people over on the weekend. I am sure if you phone Broadway homes and ask for Nick he will be happy to call around to discuss your plans. Hope this helps with your query Re: Broadway Homes Perth 8Aug 01, 2013 6:35 pm Their display homes look the best among many but prices are indeed higher. I build mine with them, not too bad. Although i wanted the tiles the same in the bathroom but was told they no longer do it anymore and i had no time to reconsider another preference. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 77383 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
