And were told it would take one or two weeks to get back to us. That's how many weeks now??? We managed to squeeze the bathroom tiling upgrades out of them by saying upgrades in the kitchen depend on how much our bathroom budget is/isn't over. And that was begging and pleading! Anna1 - we know exactly how you feel. We're almost afraid to spend a cent in case our quotes come back at a ridiculous sum. Mind you, the bathroom quote came back pleasantly under what we estimated so we may be causing ourselves all this angst for nothing. I swear we think about this house and the wait each and every day. There are so many things relying on this quote - how big our mortgage will be, how much we'll have left to landscape, etc. etc. Not to mention this is holding up our plans for baby number 2! We are SO ready to roll. All our selections were made months ago and we have compiled an extensive list to take to the builder's interview, a copy of which has gone to the builder. Plans have just gone through council and been approved. Now we're waiting on some independent approval of the plans (something that was news to us). C'mon!!! Re: Building with Rendition Homes 14May 15, 2009 10:01 pm This is really disappointing. We have now done our selections with interiors, italia ceramics and walls bros. I have done my budget and if we upgrade to classic I have $13076 I can spend - yes I have done a very specific budget. The bank wont sign off on the loan until I can show them how much the house will cost - and given that I don't know how much it will cost it is very difficult. Its like pulling teeth trying to get a price. We signed our contract 6 months ago! 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 15May 15, 2009 10:37 pm We haven't chosen a builder yet but considered Rendition awhile ago, but then heard from a couple of people who waited an age for simple info from them and this put us off. From this thread it seems that poor comms is the norm with Rendition rather than the exception. It might be that we end up having a similar experience with whoever we sign with, but we won't go into a deal knowing this is how we'll be treated. I hope you all get things sorted out quickly, must be really frustrating. Cheers, Jim Re: Building with Rendition Homes 16May 15, 2009 11:10 pm [quote="jim and adel"]It might be that we end up having a similar experience with whoever we sign with, but we won't go into a deal knowing this is how we'll be treated. Hi Jim - Not for one second am I regretting who I am building with - I certainly got a great vibe when walking through renditions display homes over and above most builders (in our price range). Our sales consultant has been fantastic, I know at the end of the day I'm going to be thrilled with the finished product. Just wish I didn't have to wait for prices - don't know if other builders are the same - might pay to ask the question before you sign on the dotted line. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 17May 15, 2009 11:58 pm Anna1 - "The bank wont sign off on the loan until I can show them how much the house will cost - and given that I don't know how much it will cost it is very difficult." Exactly the same situation with us!!! We've had several "subject to valuation" notices issued from our bank and we just can't proceed until we have our prices confirmed. But I agree with you 100% - we KNOW we're going to get an excellent quality home. Their display homes are outstanding. Really notice the difference in the finishes and attention to detail. We have friends of friends who built with Rendition. He's a carpenter and extremely pedantic. He's completely satisfied with the house built by Rendition. I keep repeating this over and over when I get down about this whole waiting game! Jim - I think it happens with almost all builders these days. Friends are building with a major company who has a higher volume of houses built, supposedly efficient and with loads of staff - they are experiencing similar problems. Ultimately I think it has to come down going to a builder whose work you admire and trust to build a great house. I am absolutely not knocking the staff at Rendition - they are fantastic and helpful when you approach them. I've never felt brushed aside. I just get sick of waiting and chasing them up. Who knows, maybe they're understaffed, etc. On a brighter note, now that our plans have gone through Council it's all go this week! We're tidying up details such as hot water system, position of gas point for bbq in alfresco, etc, etc. And have been assured that engineering are now working on the structural report and footings. It seems they were waiting for the Council approval before taking it to the next level. I can only assume that being a smaller volume builder they don't want to waste their time with potentially unnecessary engineering reports when things are still up in the air. Who knows? Still waiting on those prices (!) but am very hopeful of having them in the next week or so. Will keep you posted... PS Anna1 - Isn't it sooo tempting to upgrade?!!! We have upgraded to 2.7m ceilings, skirtings and cornices as in Seaford display home, upgraded oversize/laid rectified tiles in the bathrooms with increased tile height, roof pitch to 25 degrees, sectional overhead garage door, and a few upgrades/changes in the kitchen. Downlights (18) in the Kitchen/Living area, a few other electrical bits and pieces, rendered front with plain quoins, wall in Lounge/Dining to create study, enlarged Bedroom 3. And after much debate, Essa stone benchtop in the kitchen! Cedar windows to the front had to go once we started the selection process. This is to be our home for 10+ years so we're thinking long term and choosing what we want without going too over the top. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 18May 16, 2009 12:42 am Roar PS Anna1 - Isn't it sooo tempting to upgrade?!!! For sure - we have done the same with the ceilings, now going to 2340 high doors, rectified tiles for us too. We wanted to upgrade all the taps but calmed down a bit there. I'd love to go the stone bench tops but just can't do it! I've been living in this crap box now for so long I just want the best of everything. Sounds like you are on your way - we are waiting on council to get back to us about the position of our drive way - then hopefully all systems go. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 Re: Building with Rendition Homes 19May 16, 2009 8:56 pm HI Anna1 and Roar We have upgraded exactly the same things. We also wanted to go the cedar window frames but our budget would not allow us. We are so close yet so far I am sooo sick of living in our little dog box with two little children I day dream everyday about having space. Re: Building with Rendition Homes 20May 17, 2009 11:08 am Does anyone else want to change anything at this late stage. We just snuck in a revamp of the ensuite before we could do no more variations without cost. Because we changed the location of the ensuite door, we also change the position of the WIR door for symetry, but now what this has left us with is our bedroom door swinging back into our ensuite door. I would love to change them to Cavity sliding doors but am not prepared to pay the $1600 admin fee to do the CV. 2011 Home Sweet Home Handover 03 September 2010 PCI 27August 2010 Plumber 20August 2010 Electrician 19August 2010 Painting 04 August 2010 Cabinets 13Jul2010 Lockup 23June Frame 20April slab 1Mar10 I would never build with Fowler homes.
