Re: Describe your dream property! 6May 07, 2009 9:14 pm grace_slick Here is my dream property…anyone else care to describe their’s? External - In a block of 5 apartments, with lovely manicured gardens and cobblestone pathways - 3 two bedroom single level apartments on the ground floor (Apartments 1, 2 and 3) - 2 two bedroom plus study double level apartments on first and second floors (Apartments 4 and 5) - they’re on either end, one is over Apartment 1 and the other is over Apartment 3, so no common walls at all for them except the floor of the lower level - Very secure, there’s a main electronic gate to the property and then 2 further entrances into the actual building - (2 entrances, one for Apartments 1, 2 and 4, and the other for Apartments 3 and 5) - No communal pool so quite a low body corporate (around $30 a week), which is just for the garden maintenance and insurance for the building - Building is around 6-8 years of age - Common stairwell areas inside building are carpeted and look more like a plush hotel than a normal sort of not so nice block of flats - The walls are white wash and the roof is terracotta tiles, very Mediterranean and nice Internal Downstairs - In my mind, it’s Apartment 5, so a double storey, 2 bedroom and study apartment on the first and second floors - Nice entrance hall, lovely kitchen with dishwasher, microwave built into kitchen cabinets, nice range hood and newish oven, bench tops are marble-look (though not necessarily proper marble), cupboards are nice and clean white, it’s an open plan kitchen but has a curved sort of breakfast bar to separate it from the living areas - The living areas are sunken from the kitchen, further separating the areas, and a good size though not hugely enormous. The dining area is adjacent to the living area, and is further sunken, just big enough for a 6 seater table and a buffet unit behind. - Both have views directly out onto the patio and courtyard which is sunken again once you get outside. All paved in nice large sandstone-look tiles (not real sandstone though) and with built-in matching stone-look square pots all around, with lovely green established plants, hedges, etc all around. The walls are high, and are also perfect for the application of a cat-max netting over the top so you can have cats out there that won’t escape! Heheh. - This courtyard area is basically set over the top of part of the ground floor apartment, which is why no natural grass, etc. - Also in this courtyard is a small spa pool, in-ground. Only Apartments 4 and 5 have this. - Also on the first level is a study/library which is off the living area between the living area and the entrance hall area. It has no windows but has built in bookshelves all along the back and front walls. The front wall is also the entrance to this room, and is basically a very wide square archway with bi-folding doors to separate it from the living areas. (this study is also sunken) - Also on this level and going along a short passageway behind the study is the second bedroom / guest room. Not huge, just big enough for one fold out double bed couch, 2 side tables, and 2 low bookshelves. It’s got BIRs (mirrored) and a nice view of the courtyard (no actual access, just a window) This room is also sunken. - Also on this level is a bathroom that is the main (only) bathroom on this level. It has a nice enclosed shower with curved sliding shower screen (tinted, not frosted), nice vanity with 3 drawers on either side of a standard size 2 door cupboard, nice big mirror above, toilet. It is also a 2 way bathroom, as it is the ensuite for the guest bedroom. - Last for this level is a laundry. This is next to the bathroom and opposite the guest bedroom door along that short passageway. Again it’s not huge, it’s got room for a large washing machine, a dryer above the laundry sink, and it also has floor to ceiling double cupboards for linen and other such things like cleaning stuff. - There are other linen cupboards in that short hallway. HEAPS of storage!! - The living room, kitchen, dining area and courtyard all face South Upstairs - Upstairs is just the master suite and ensuite - When you get upstairs, there’s a small area with curved windowed walls so you get this really lovely light and view (North) - Opposite this windowed wall is the doors to the master bedroom, which is AGAIN sunken! You enter through the door and there is a really short passageway bit (VERY short, like 1-2 door lengths) and then the bedroom actually opens up to the vague square shape it is. - The ensuite is off this short passageway area so as not to take up a wall in the actual bedroom area, and it has a rounded corner spa bath on 2 steps with floor to ceiling windows so you can look at the view whilst in the spa (looking South East), as well as a nice enclosed shower, same as downstairs, same nice vanity, etc, toilet and such. Also what’s good about the ensuite being not in the main bedroom part is that, unlike a lot of ensuites, it’s not RIGHT near the bed so you don’t wake up your partner if you’re in the ensuite while they’re trying to sleep. - The bed itself is sort of elevated about 2 steps high on a platform that is large enough for a king bed and 2 side tables. It gives a lovely sense of being able to see the whole spacious room and views when in bed. - There are 4 narrow louvered bi-fold doors on the wall to the left of the bed (not right opposite it, but down further, they start almost where the bed ends) and when you open them, it’s a walk-in robe with built in shelves and hanging space on all 3 walls around it. Not huge, but perfect for moi. Heheh. - Opposite the bed is a wall for a dressing table for instance, and then moving along going to the right, is a floor to ceiling window, and then a very short corner section of wall, and then on the wall to the right of the bed is another wider floor to ceiling window that is also a sliding door out to the balcony which is not enormous, but a nice curved shape and large enough to put a nice table with 2 chairs and a big umbrella on it, and several medium to large pot plants (palms and cycads and stuff). The view from the bedroom is East (the window directly opposite the bed) and South (the main balcony window/door) - Where I’m envisioning this property right now is in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, and about 2 short blocks from the beach, and about a 10 minute walk North of the heart of Broadbeach Mall. So when I say a lot of the outlooks are South, this is good cause you’re looking down towards the lights and loveliness of Broadbeach, and East to the beach and park going along the beach. - All doors and windows in the apartment have Crimsafe security/fly screens. - Smoke alarms downstairs and upstairs - Ceiling fans in all rooms - Air conditioning and heating also, in the form of temperature control - The property is REALLY quiet and all are owner occupiers. As I said, no common walls. Does anyone know if something like this might actually exist? I can’t find it. Surely it’s not THAT weird or unrealistic! lol This would have to be one of the longest posts on the forum!! Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! It will certainly be an accomplishment once a plan is done. Well my dream house at the moment is to just own a house. Have been renting for nearly 12 months and just do not know when to take the plunge. Not too big and not too small, must have a craft/sewing/art room for me, big enough with its own surround sound system and wall mounted 50" LCD TV, so i can block out the noise of the kids fighting. Oh and must have a decent size shed in the back yard for Hubby of course. Would like it positioned high up on a hill where i can see the ocean views along with Fraser Island. Oh and nearly forgot that i would like an attached granny flat for my parents to come and live in one day. Baby sitting is expensive My dream home seems a bit boring i know, but that is all it would take to me happy right now. Re: Describe your dream property! 8May 08, 2009 12:18 pm No dream home is boring for the dreamer. And I think you should dive into the market ASAP as the prices and interest rates are down. You won’t lose money if you hang onto any property you buy now for a few years. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing!
