Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Handover 23Sep 27, 2007 8:14 pm french_gal Just an update: Had a look at the house last night, and there is yellow dots everywhere so im guessing handover has been thru it. Got a call from a lovely girl today saying that the inspector wants to do the home presentation next Thursday. Will be interesting to see it then, cause we cant get in the house any more. Will update next week. Anyone has any hints on what to look out for and so forth? Hey french gal..... The only thing I would suggest is if you haven't upgraded to down lights and just have the standard battern lights, then maybe take some 100w clear globes with you. The globes they had in here were horrible and it made it really difficult to pick up any markings, and once we changed the globes (after handover...lol) you could see things clear as day, that in hindsight we may not have accepted on the day. Also (i'm sorry I have no idea what the correct word is) they may have filled the slab with this grey stuff, depending on what floor your putting down after handover, make sure you ask them if its in the limits of the guidlines. We had no idea what it was, and then when the floor guy came, he almost wasn't going to lay the floor due to a certain %. He did say this was common with all builders, but that we should have checked?????? Hope that helps.....and goodluck, looks like your nearly there. Congrats to our builder "H", two weeks to the day we had our Tender appt and our contract is ready (one week ahead of our meeting) - hubby is collecting it tonight after work!!! Not bad considering we have heard that some are pushing uphill to recieve theirs within 3 weeks. Hopefully someone upstairs is looking after me and we will continue to have our expectations exceeded until handover..... Well done "H" !!!!!!!!! Re: H*enl*y 26Oct 06, 2007 11:29 pm Well we collected our contract & drawings, apart from a few issues with the drawings, all seems pretty decent. And as an added bonus, they have brought forward our contract meeting by 2 days...
Woo hoo, very happy, thanks "H" , the sooner the better.....Bring it on, we want our house NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE 27Oct 11, 2007 8:15 am Inspection Thursday 4th - Turned up to find a guy waiting for us fully expecting not to be any faults.
I couldnt believe that some of the faults handover had seen and dotted were not fixed. They just removed the dots and hopped we wouldnt see it. Most of the stuff we were not happy with, he would say oh thats acceptable. Well is it acceptible that my nice shiny window frams have over spray all over them? Is it acceptible that my nice new white grout is now all dirty because there tradies just dont care? Its a brand new house that looks like ****. Everything to this guy was acceptable. The house was filthy, so i asked him if it was going to get cleaned and he kept saying something about a builders clean. He just wouldnt give me a straight answer. Its been a week now and it doesnt look like anything has been done. I just want this **** to finish. I fix it myself. Ill do a better job than them. Update 28Oct 23, 2007 12:00 pm Happy to report that H*nl*y have finally picked up there game.
We had an inspection yesterday and i am pleased to say that all our concerns have been addressed. Hopefully now the house is finished either this week (that would be amazing) or next week. Will update again after we settle. Thanks heap to H*nl*y for picking up their act. Sometimes it’s a matter of talking to someone that takes pride in their work. Re: H*enl*y 29Oct 23, 2007 12:05 pm Hi french_gal, glad to hear all is goig well for you... Bet you can't wait!!!! Re: H*enl*y 32Oct 25, 2007 4:17 pm The house is getting there. We should hit the inspection stage next week. But everything depens on when the inspections are carried out and how many issues there are with the house.
Our adviser has estimated 4 weeks. |
