We think we may get away with it although we might lose the functionality of our top draw for our powder vanity and main bathroom (they are smaller cabinets) and I don't know if it's worth losing that decisions decisions here is a pic of the smaller vanities bathroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ powder area Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! Re: My basins - not so happy 11Apr 25, 2009 2:13 pm I thought I was vice president bel kyiee don't you just hate it when it's not quite right, I know the feeling too....BUT, I actually like the square very much, I like round too , but they look good and once you get your bits around it with a towel rail and taps, I bet they grow on you. Live with them for a while, you know you can changed them later. As for the height and kids, they won't be little shorties forever, mine had to stand on a little step with a normal recessed basin. Re: My basins - not so happy 13Apr 25, 2009 2:28 pm I like them too kyiee! Maybe wait till you move in and have lived with them for a while to see how much they bother you then? Re: My basins - not so happy 14Apr 25, 2009 3:42 pm i think wait for the tiling, taps and mirror - these will make a huge difference and will draw you eye away from your "cakebox basin" excellent technical talk there... 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: My basins - not so happy 15Apr 25, 2009 4:31 pm hi there, I just wanted to say i love the square ones. Re: My basins - not so happy 17Apr 25, 2009 5:32 pm A word of advice, Im not sure if the basin in the pic is sitting loose or already fixed into position, but sometimes the basin you have shown just has small holes for the waste and tap cut out and if the plumber fits his taps and plug and waste into the basin and then fits the basin onto the cupboard top, there might not be room to remove the tap or the P ând G in the future. So instead of just removeing them with the basin in situ, it will be necesary to remove the basin from the cupboard, which if its stuck down and stuck to the wall and tiled is something you dont want to think about. Make sure theres enough room in the cupboard top where the flexible connectors pass through for the next plumber to get a socket spanner up to the securing nut on the tap. Re: My basins - not so happy 19Apr 25, 2009 8:13 pm I really like the square basins, we're having them in our house. Doesn't change the fact that it's not what you thought you had chosen. I am a bit surprised though that they didn't mention that choosing those basins (even though you didn't realise you were) with your cabinetry would mean the basins would be quite high. It really comes down to who you get when making all your choices. I found that with our colour selection. I think you might find, as I am as more and more things are being done, that once the walls are painted and your mirrors up they probably won't stand out as much. I think because they are so white they really stand out against the plaster, this changes once you get some colour on the walls and tile in. For me they look great because I am bias, but hopefully if you still don't like them once the build is finished you can find something you prefer. Re: My basins - not so happy 20Apr 25, 2009 9:12 pm Kylie I Know its your decision in the end . and granted your basins are bigger but maybe not as high as mine so may work for you., your taps are proberly flickmaster and will be installed differently to mine, but from my own experience.., I hate them . mine are smaller but higher I want pd TO RIP THEM OUT Im going to give it a try even though its been a yr since they gone in. Mine were an upgrade at the time i thought they looked nice when i saw them in the displays . i need to be 6 ft to reach them , PD didnt think and i didnt think of the dilema of having the taps fitted to the walls so consequently i have to stand on tippee toes to brush my teeth and i end up with tooth paste stains down my front and a male with big hands cant fit his hands underneath the tap.
